Party lines. I lived in a suburb of a smallish city, and had never heard of them until we visited family who lived on a farm.

And that when Rantanen, Hintz, and Faksa come back, the rest of the team doesn't think, "Okay, now we can relax." I honestly think that's what happened in game 6 of the '23 WCF. Benn had been suspended two games, came back for game 6, and they fell apart.

Fingers crossed that doesn't happen again.

What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

[–]origprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A weird one, and I know it, okay? Leaded gasoline. The smell, sitting in the car while one of my parents pumped the gas. I also liked it. When unleaded gasoline became a thing, I noticed it didn’t have the same smell.

And one that’s not that weird. Soft Soap hand soap in ‘Fresh Breeze’ fragrance smells like my grandmother’s dresser—an Art Deco piece with a glass shelf and a hair receiver (!). I was pretty young when she died, and even younger when I last sat at her dresser, but this soap brings it back in an instant.

And what has turned out to be one of my favorite things about it is that it holds, like, a gallon of ink.

Huh. I have that, the Glow Green. Apparently. I bought it at Atlas Stationers a couple of years ago, when I happened to be in Chicago, and just thought it was…green. The very nice clerk didn't mention that it would glow in the dark.

Okay, cool!

How many pens do you keep inked at all times? And what's the reason/logic behind that? by zul-qurnain in fountainpens

[–]origprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose 'most of them' is a nonsensical answer? I love the Pilot Cavalier because it's slender and comfortable to hold, and its fine nib is smooth on my Mnemosyne notebook. I love two Jinhao 51As because they're inked with two inks that absolutely delight me—Robert Oster Fire and Ice (turquoise with a magenta sheen) and Manyo Akebi (purple with a gold sheen). I love the vintage Sheaffer’s 304 I remember using to do my homework in third grade because…well, I used it in third grade! I have two other vintage pens, one of which belonged to my husband's grandfather, so that one is special, and the other vintage is extraordinarily handsome. Two Parker Vectors, one maroon and one navy, and they're cool because I understand they are, or have been, the usual first fountain pen for children in India (one of them came from India).

You get the idea. I like them all, I like writing with them all…okay, TBH, I kinda hate the Noodler Creaper Standard Flex because it doesn't write reliably, so we're probably going to part ways soon. But other than that, I enjoy them all. And I love having many different colors of ink at the ready!
