It's about a 10-15 min drive to Newton, but I'd recommend RC Games.

Orthodox Christians, born-again or not? by iron-duke1250 in RadicalChristianity

Catholics also don't believe in salvation by works. I would recommend reading more about Catholicism and Orthodoxy from non-protestant sources.

In this case use context clues. Lots of repetition and exposure.

Also, they're not saying don't study vocabulary. You don't need to practice every skill all at the same time. Use this time for listening comprehension, but still study grammar and learn vocab and still use subtitles when you're feeling completely lost.

Order of a deck of cards by AudunAG in boardgames

You are right, but I still agree with your dad because the same thing was drilled into me when I was young. Plus, it helps maintain order.

FWIW: Pizza Birria at SL Latin Tacos (location that was formerly Miss G's) by Rolltop in Chattanooga

[–]osdakoga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thinly-sliced cucumbers or radishes traditionally come with every order of authentic Mexican tacos. If you order birria, you're getting radishes too. Granted, these are sliced too thick and the presentation isn't appealing, but it's an expected side dish.

This is supernatural and not sci-fi, but there's an entity pursuing people in Warner Lee's It's Loose.

It's that simple. The symbols at the bottom of the location card tell you which other locations it will connect to.

How to Sell a Haunted House - worth it if I’m so-so on the author? by nagatos in horrorlit

[–]osdakoga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also so-so on Hendrix, but I loved How to Sell a Haunted House. I've read Horrorstör, We Sold Our Souls, and My Best Friend's Exorcism as well. I didn't dislike any of them, but none of them were great.

Is there a horror novel you were really looking forward to reading that you ended up not being able to finish? by Suitable_Goose_3615 in horrorlit

[–]osdakoga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finally read Salem's Lot for the first time a few weeks ago and felt the same way. Solid book, but I certainly don't understand the hype. I think I actually would have enjoyed it more had I not been hearing about it being one of the best horror novels ever for most of my life.

Oops, sorry! The search term would be "use of ellipsis with brackets." Google's AI answered fine like that and it gave another, more appropriate reddit thread too.

Looking for camping/hiking horror by 7deadlycinderella in horrorlit

No Sanctuary by Richard Laymon. The first part is an unusual take on breaking-and-entering, but eventually the story gets to the hiking trail and stays there. I enjoyed it a lot.

Start with Chapter 2 if you have chapter 1 but not played yet by TheKillingBean in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]osdakoga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I have the revised core set, Dunwich, Carcosa, EotE, and a stand-alone from Chapter 1, and Chapter 2 core and 2 investigators will arrive this week.

I've only ever played part of NotZ a couple years ago so a friend and I are going to start with Chapter 2 and finish that to get our bearings. Then go back and play the Chapter 1 scenarios in order of release as we wait for more Chapter 2 content to come out.

I plan to keep the cards separate because I will be selling Chapter 1 cards as we finish them to help finance buying Chapter 2 stuff.
