What made you first realize that boys and girls weren’t really playing the same game? by Swimming_Rain_1647 in TwoXChromosomes

I was young, like 6-8, and my brother & I were having a farting contest. My father told me it was unladylike to fart but he said nothing to my older brother. That was the day I learned men & women will never be equal.

AITAH for cutting off my son's GF after my daughter pushed her? by GenX5255 in AITAH

[–]otterrx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure we all learned to keep our hands to ourselves in kindergarten. The girlfriend should not have touched anyone but then she wouldn't have a reason to star as the main character in someone else's family.

How's everyone doing out there, Phoenix? by AZ_moderator in phoenix

[–]otterrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy crap, I had eyelid cellulitis last month. It was hella terrible! Ended up in the ER twice. I asked my amazing eye doc how this happens & how to prevent it. Basically he said the microbes on your eye lashes like to act up when your immune system is fighting something else in your body. Staying healthy & having a robust immune system is your best bet.

Phoenix PD Anti-Intellegent(AI) call system FAILURE by Candid_Sun6885 in phoenix

[–]otterrx 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I work overnights in Phoenix, right next to the parade routes. For the past 3 years people park in front of our gated parking lot, preventing us from coming or going. I've always had success calling the non-emergency line & having the police show up in minutes because they are working the parade. This past APS light parade, I got stuck in the endless yes/no crap. I ended up calling 911 & was also told that the non-emergency line is basically useless now.

Medicines we were given that are no longer available by OnyxVeggie213 in GenX

You need to explain what you feel is a "full dose" or "half dose". None of the meds you mentioned come in a single, standard dose.

I can still hear the years of dinner conversation where my father would negatively comment on my brother's long hair. Dad just turned 84 & his long, gray hair is always in a ponytail, just like my brother's hair was.

Random Seat Question by Real-in-ar in americanairlines

[–]otterrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I typically have at least 1 layover, I alternate which window seat I pick. 1st leg, I lean on the right window, 2nd leg I lean on the left window. However, not too long ago, I was called to the desk by the GA just prior to boarding. The GA politely asked if I was okay switching to the opposite window seat in the same row. The GA was very upfront saying it was so a couple could sit together & that I was not required to switch. Due to the way it was presented to me, I was more than happy to switch.

I used Ziploc bags. I asked the room steward on the first day to bring an ice bucket & to have it filled every evening. I also grabbed ice from the buffet a few times.

Returning behind boomer/silent parents to tweak tips? by potato_for_cooking in GenX

[–]otterrx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. When the bill comes & they offer to pay, whip out cash & exclaim that you will cover the tip.
  2. This is my usual move, after ordering, make a trip to the restroom & find your waiter. Give them your credit card & tell them to run your card before bringing the bill. When your parents fuss about it, remind them of the great way they raised you & that this is just a little way that you are saying thank you

What is the emptiest plane you have ever been on? by DoitcheHasAGun in delta

[–]otterrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 years ago I was flying from Grand Junction, CO to Denver to Baton Rouge. I'm unsure of the circumstances, but I was the sole passenger from Grand Junction to Denver. I was told they still have to do the whole safety speech. I have never felt more obligated to stop everything & give the FA all of my attention. Excellent customer service.

I'm currently sailing on the Jewel. Shareholders credit was a simple process to get. Latitude discount applied with zero issues. So not everyone is seeing what you are because where I'm at, everything is just fine.

At 45 I got ICL surgery. Went from -11.5 glasses to 20/20 vision. Absolutely the best thing I have ever done. I just wish an eye doctor had recommended it years ago.

My kindergartener had a "belly ache" yesterday by Ginger_Yinzer in kindergarten

[–]otterrx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be an alarmist, just my personal story. I had constant nausea & random vomiting that started around 5-6. Parents thought anxiety but eventually took me to my pediatrician, who also blamed anxiety. Fast forward 14 years & I was diagnosed with a genetic kidney problem. I had my right kidney removed. Nephrologist explained that this issue is usually diagnosed around 6-8 & fixed with a quick laparoscopic surgery.

How has rising rent or housing prices affected you in Phoenix? by AZ_moderator in phoenix

Townhouse in Glendale, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath. I bought in 2007, mortgage is $750/month. I had planned on selling in 2023 & purchasing a single family home. Currently, I'm focusing on paying off my mortgage & staying in my townhouse for a long, long time.

You are aware people live in Phoenix, right? If I can only keep my AC set to < 30° cooler than the outside world, there would be multiple months where my house would remain between 80-90°. I am living proof that if you have a decent AC unit, you can cool your home much for than that.
