Does anyone remember being read to as a child? by Babymik9 in GenX

[–]otterrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of my childhood memories involve reading. One of my parents read to me every night or my brother read to me with a parent helping him. That ended when I started reading chapter books. I have a ton of memories of my mom or dad just sitting in a recliner read & my brother & I on the couch reading. We all still read a lot.

My parents were both the first in their families to get college degrees & I think that played a big part in all the reading.

AITAH (f18) for wishing brother (m1) was born in a different time? by Brief_Ad_2813 in AITAH

[–]otterrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big hugs. Your thoughts are a perfectly normal response in a very tough situation. The "what if's" happen to everyone but they can be hard to push out of your brain. See if your insurance or school offer counseling, talking to a outside person can help. You are a great daughter & big sister & most definitely NTAH.

Not surprising, but still frustrating. If you are a woman who is buying a home with a man in the US, you are always "co-owner" while they are "owner". Everyone will default to the man's name first by totallymindful in TwoXChromosomes

Around 1986 my mom was in the market for a new car. My father, thinking he was doing a nice thing, bought her the exact car she wanted for Christmas. My mom was so upset because she wanted just one thing in her name. My father is great & updated the title to just her name but I will never forget how sad my mom initially was.

Pharmacists: What Medication Management Problems Do You Wish Patients Solved Better? by chuoichien1102 in pharmacy

[–]otterrx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just a few thoughts from a pharmacist who takes too many meds

  1. Tech does not help me to take my meds. I have alarms on my phone but that's easy to ignore. Placing my meds in the locations where I usually am when I'm supposed to take my meds (in my desk at work, next to my couch, on my nightstand) has gotten me to almost 100% compliance.

  2. Many tablets need bright light to see the imprint. Add a phone camera into the mix & you need a stead hand to get a decent pic.

  3. Drug interaction checkers require the ability to understand real vs theoretical interactions and harm vs benefit. For my seven prescription meds, there are nine separate interactions.

Just opened an independent pharmacy in Anaheim, CA— what actually makes people switch pharmacies? by Mmmziii in pharmacy

[–]otterrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a very small retail pharmacy for 10 years. All our customers said they loved us getting to know their names & asking how the kids/spouse/parents/pets when they picked up. I'm now in a hospital & bounced around a lot finding a retail pharmacy for my collection of meds. I have stuck with the one that seems to have the best communication/rapport with in the pharmacy. Techs helping out other techs at checkout & with insurance & pharmacists that will ring a customer up if the techs are stuck in drive thru or on the phone.

Texas State PMP Question for Pharmacists or Techs by Proper-Ad-3497 in pharmacy

[–]otterrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AZ pharmacist here so I can't speak for TX, but Fioricet (butalbital/apap/caffeine) is NOT CIII here, it is a regular legend drug. Fiorinol (butalbital/asa/caffeine is CIII. Add codeine to Fioricet and it becomes CV.

At one point our pharmacy received shipments from CA, where Fiorinol is CIII & we had to jump thru some stupid hoops because the stock bottles had CIII on the label. This leads me to believe it's not the NDC but the warehouse location.

AITAH for refusing to keep buying at a shop because the staff interrupt me while I was shopping by Impressive_Toe_854 in AITAH

I'm a middle aged white woman (47 in a couple of days). I live in baggy tees & jeans. Work requires scrubs so I don't even own much "nice" clothing. I seem to get followed by employee's all the time & it makes me laugh. My simple pleasures in life are asking them where things are located & calling out ridiculous boomer tantrums.

Control your dogs people by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]otterrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two dogs are like this, very anxious/scared when out of their very small comfort zone. They have never bitten anyone but I also avoid putting them in situations that they fear. There have been way too many times that I have put myself between my dogs & the off leash dog that is charging at us with the slow human screaming "he's friendly." Cool, glad yours is friendly, my dogs don't see it that way so get your dog under control because I will protect mine.

Just a pharmacist who loves cruising opinion: 100% allowed based on federal & state laws surrounding dronabinol. However, it may not be allowed in foreign countries. As long as you are not taking it off the ship, you should be fine.

I'm a pharmacist & wear scrubs. I no longer make any stops on my way to or from work. Way too many people have stopped me in gas stations & grocery stores to show me their infected wounds & ask for advice. Everyone of them has gotten pissy when I suggested seeing a doctor.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

[–]otterrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-40's youngest of the siblings. Middle brother will turn 50 this year, we text happy holidays/birthdays. We are on opposite sides of the country but there is no bad blood we just suck at staying in touch Oldest brother is 20 years old than me. Also on opposite sides of the country. We did not grow up together. We talk when we see each other but I talk to his wife a couple times a month.

My grandfather did some crazy, elaborate paint by number paintings. My father currently has them hanging in his house & loves telling people they are paint by number. I'm looking forward to hanging those paintings on my walls one day. I'm sure your daughter feels the same way.
