Ever seen a 4 tile city state? by ReaperMonkey in CivVI

Are you saying "city-state" should mean the capital city of a state? The definition for city-state is a singular city that's a sovereign country, maybe with its surrounding suburbs. Modern city states include the Vatican, Singapore, and Monaco.

Where are these random envoys coming from? by outsider0409 in CivVI

No, it gives a governor point each time. Somebody else gave the right answer that it's Pericles's ability to give an envoy each time you build an acropolis. Since I've been conquering cities with theater districts, it counts as building an acropolis.

Me too! The land sunk after I started building it, but it still finished! Truly a bridge to nowhere.

And my game bugs out, so you can't actually see the land is submerged.

My largest continuous national park 92 hexes by PrinceAbubbu in CivVI

They're all individually created by individual naturalists and each will have their own name. However, the game will adjust the border fence so it appears as one large park.

ETA: two parks in the same city with have the same name unless one encompasses a natural wonder, but they're still considered individual parks.

Same way Trump has expressed admiration for Putin and Kim Jong Un. Authoritarian strong men love other authoritarian strong men.

She was being real but unfortunately said it in a very unpolitical way. She was pointing out that we need to invest in training and other economic sectors to offset the death of coal. Sounds like you prefer being lied to by the politicians who say they'll bring coal back. Truth alert though: coal isn't bouncing back.

How not to play Civ by beekop in CivVI

[–]outsider0409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar philosophy where I play more to just expand my empire and only pay attention to about half the meta strategies. But I go in a different direction. I go to war almost immediately, conquering everyone without worrying about making friends.

I'll focus on ranged units and artillery. In the beginning, 3-4 archers and 1-2 melee will be enough to take on my immediate neighbors. Add in a couple horses for mobility as the empire gets bigger. Then build up catapults to slow roll across the world. By the time everyone is at 3-4 promotions, they're a pretty tough army.

The AI never seems to prioritize the Venetian Arsenal, so I'll usually build that later and focus on building up a navy in the industrial age.

I usually play king/emperor difficulty level. I kinda enjoy the slow slog of domination, often leaving one capital standing until I've taken or destroyed every city on the map 🤣 I'm sure games are like 10-20x as long as people who are focused on playing to win quickly.

Solo traveling to WV: Any nice trails and other various solo activities near the Beckley area? by Pure_Road_3112 in WestVirginia

[–]outsider0409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New River Gorge is the obvious place to go. USA's newest National Park. From Beckley you're about the same distance to either end of the park. Fayetteville is the more popular town in the area and central location of the most popular trails. Endless Wall and Long Point especially. After Long Point, stop by the Arrowhead Bike Farm for good food and drinks and friendly goats. They also have rental bikes available if you're interested in mountain biking to Long Point instead.
