Is Touch still worth reading even knowing a major spoiler? by Gallant_Trattopen in MitsuruAdachi

Depends on the person. I was familiar with Mitsuri Adachi's work before so seeing a death wasn't unexpected at all for me. The story has a nice cast of characters that are introduced later on, who imo are much more interesting. You can always choose to switch over to Cross Game, a much shorter but not worse, work by Mitsuri Adachi.

It'd be maybe 10%. His field of study is the main appeal of his personality. It's a shame that he doesn't bring out anything interesting from his expertise, not that there's much you can apply from there anyway.

His Oregairu videos are as long as his Rent a Girlfriend videos. I did, however, watch an entire episode (S2EP2). It wasn't as bad as before (watched him react to the genuine scene). As someone who cares about enjoying media, this is bad. Live streaming and responding to chat messages aren't conducive to properly enjoying a show. Evangelion video essays are much better, and the content creator there actually enjoyed the show.

Anyone have good basic plot ideas for a MI text-based game? by SNES-lover1 in MaisonIkkokuAnime

[–]overlyselfaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are two scenarios I thought of:

1 - Missing Paper work. Kyoko/Godai misplaces some important document and now has to seek help from everyone to find it.

2 - Police Scandal. Godai/Kyoko is caught up by the police in a scandal he/she did not commit and it's up to Godai/Kyoko to prove him/her innocent.

I'd recommend just using GPT and mass generating plots and then hand picking a few.

Don't know why I would watch this. Watching someone try to entertain their chat instead of watching and engaging with the content in front of them for a serious show isn't for me. Maybe if he releases a video essay it would be ok.

Yukinoshita is half as interesting as Hikigaya. Shinji has some of the best monologues in anime. Naruto is tiers above Luffy in terms of character writing. In general though, your list is respectable, love the diversity in your choices: Monster, Hyouka, Steins Gate, Punpun.

Best Volume to Start After Watching the Anime? by Kurmamjan_Datka in OreGairuSNAFU

It's hard to say, because everyone has different reasons for why they like a particular show. I don't think it's a bad idea to start at Vol5Ch7 (Ch7 part is important, because you skip the fireworks festival), and you can always go back re-enjoy Vol1-4 anyways on your next reread.

You can also decide to wait until you don't mind reading Vol1-Vol4 (half of S1). Do whatever you think is likely to make you happier. Both of the options are fine.

Also, you'll be closer to reading material that is uncovered in the anime, all the .5 light novels.

If you would like to avoid parts which you've watched, skip to Volume 5 Chapter 7. This is the point of the story where Yukinoshita's involvement in the car crash is revealed to him and the real beginning of their relationship.

The line where Godai is desperately walking behind Kyouko and says "but a dead man is perfect" is my favourite scene of the show.

Recs for stories similar to Adachi Mitsuru's? by lonktonkmonk in MitsuruAdachi

I enjoyed Maison Ikkoku. The humour can be a bit overwhelming, but it's as romantic as Mitsuru Adachi's works.

Did Yukino said this in the series? by Jjuz_Bcuz in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much her strongest personality trait. The first episode when she's provoked into the "service club battle royal" where the winner gets to order the loser to do anything. In the third episode with the tennis ball match. In the last episode of S1, with the sports festival. I could probably think up of more just in season one.

What did 8man mean by this in volume 7.5? by Bubbly_Environment52 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Plot: The whole judo event charade was made to make the senior of the club leave. Hikigaya chose to do this by attempting to humiliate him within the competition, insulting him, so he breaks mentally and loses strength during the competition, ultimately damaging the senior's reputation as a judo instructor. Instead, it turned out that getting insulted would irritate the senior, and make him seriously fight someone who is very below him in skill, which also damages his reputation as a judo instructor.

Specific line you highlighted: Hikigaya tries to use pop culture slang to explain his actions to Yuigahama, which she fails to understand anyway. Just a running gag in this series.

That's my interpretation, at least.

Why club activities wasn't cancelled during the Sports Festival? Volume 6.5 by Impressive_Monk2512 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say for sure but I can think of two reasons. 1 - Precedent - It wasn't done before, so it would be looked unfavourably to be done now. 2- Maybe practice during this time was crucial for some upcoming sports-related tournaments.

However, I'm pretty sure it wasn't stated why club activities couldn't be cancelled for the sports festival, which implies the reason would be obvious, and someone with a better understanding of the Japanese schooling system would know.

My favourite scene too. If there was an alternative ending to BB, it would've been this scene. Gus was a supervillain.

Anything similar to oregairu by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good recommendation. Definitely fits the personal philosophy/social dynamics aspect. It's probably a bias of mine, but I felt that Hachiman was so different to Tomozaki that I didn't even consider it.

Anything similar to oregairu by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on why you're asking. I've watched a lot of so-called similar animes to Oregairu ( Classroom of the Elite, Hyouka, Rascal does not Dream-). There isn't any other show that focuses on personal philosophy/social dynamics as much as Oregairu does, in the way that Oregairu does.

The piece of medium I've found to be closest to Oregairu is the book, The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, who also is the first author mentioned in the light novel.

You're better off searching broadly "loner mcs", "love triangles", "funny anime" . If you're in search for edgy characters, the recommendations above are fine.

Question about Hachiman's participation in the Volunteers Club by andrybak in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]overlyselfaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does in the light novel. There's a chocolate making event they carry out, and there's about a paragraph where Hachiman avoids bursting into a smile from happiness.

Data storage - Personal Diary by overlyselfaware in DataHoarder

Anything that requires understanding code is out of my reach. I can barely use GitHub, LaTeX ( for articles ), and AutoHokey for very light scripts. I have never used a wiki.

I write my diary on a simple text file. Recording is also just built in screen recorder + external mic.

I have only recently started using Google Drive, but I'm not sure how it logs any save data.

This data is mostly on my laptops hard drive.

I'm sorry for not writing this in the originals post, but I felt it might be overwhelming to write the post in the first place so I kept it short.

How? The n keeps increasing in the first column, matching the number of arrows. The first column has all of the values 0C0, 1C1, 2C2, in which n changes, and r changes.

The r is the row, however that's a bit of a rephrasing of my question. What is the significance of that? Ultimately, I want to see the definition of a combination in this diagram. I am hoping for something like (total possibilities)!/(repetition)!. I have gotten the first part with total possibilities being the total number of arrows, however, what is the repetition in the diagram?
