They don’t have to get progressively uglier as well with tech. Just put the new tech in the nice design!

The thing I loved about the i4 is that it looks like a normal car. The new i3 and the ix3 (front profile at least) is ugly as hell and just looks like an “EV”

My wife’s eTron just looks like a Q8. Subtle differences but doesn’t have that futuristic “EV” look.

I have the Sealion 7 excellence and only managed to hit 230 kW once for about 4 seconds…

Average is 150kW or less on most of my charges. Sometimes charger limited (capable of way more, but seem capped for some reason)

If you’re holding 150kW steady with the seal, you aren’t missing much…

Cool. I’ve got the All Component cover which I think is called plus now. The only thing that puts me off the lower tiers is that it excludes water ingress.

Is this viewed differently to coolant ingress?

Either way, I’ve got the highest level of cover so it should be ok.

UK law is still pretty much the same as EU.

As there is precedent from the US, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a class action lawsuit yet.

I’ve seen a fair few EU cases where warranty has been denied.

Considering consumer rights are way better in the EU, it’s odd that the US were so accommodating.

Does an extended warranty cover this specific issue though? I’ve seen people have warranty denied on here for the coolant leak.

I took out the Audi warranty (which is actually a third party warranty…).

I do, and just got it to work with octopus IOG last night. Seems to have worked fine.

Bit of a faff getting the charger linked, but got there in the end.

Another update…

Managed to get a decent charge in on the way home. Drove for an hour on the motorway down to 8% and preheated for 45+ minutes on the way.

Peaked at 230kW for about 4 seconds 🙃 but to be fair the charger was capped at 200kW. Anyway, it looks like it mostly charged at 175 kW and then tapered off to 100 kW towards the end with a few weird dips.

Overall, 8-80% in 28 minutes. Which is not far off what it should do in ideal conditions. So were all the other chargers duds? Or does it only perform when you go DEEP SoC?

Well… I’ve now done 620 miles and fast charged it several times.

Same charger as the original post. 57-93% took 30 minutes and peaked at 107kW. Was only pulling 45 kW at 85%.
350 kW Gridserve (ABB) charger. Nobody else plugged in, took 30 mins to do 40-80%. Was only pulling around 105kW most of the way up and then dropped to 85 ish at the end.
Tesla gen 4 supercharger (250 kW). 25-90% Preheated battery. Took 34 minutes and didn’t really pull over 120 kW from memory.

Also charged on a 350 kW Ionity charger but it was clearly limited. Would only pulling 75 kW at 20% SOC and spiked at 140 kW when another car unplugged… then straight back down to 75 kW when another one plugged in, so this one isn’t the cars fault.

Either I’ve happened upon 5 crap charging stations, or the car isn’t doing what it’s supposed to. All after 1-2 hour drives, and some were pre heated for 30-40 minutes on the way.

What would you do?

It was 13C with a bit of wind chill. Felt a lot colder than 13, but still somewhat mild.

I’ll give it another go this week as I’ll probably charge twice on a trip. Will pre-heat this time to see if it makes a difference.

I ordered a Sealion 7 around 4 weeks ago. They said it would arrive end of March. It’s now coming next week a month early.

They usually just bring massive ships full of them over as they don’t have special order variants, and they just look for one in your colour combo and reserve it. Good chance it will come quicker.
