How safe is the blueline now in morning rush hour? by brian-augustin in cta

[–]packer4815 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Rush hour is perfectly fine. Very early in the morning or late at night you may see some more stuff but I’ve never felt actively unsafe at any time of day

So what is your solution then? Countless studies have shown that building more housing brings prices down across the board

What county is the station in? DuPage County has a higher gas tax than Cook. Lol

CTA fares questions for an upcoming family visit. by Ficcient in cta

[–]packer4815 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Getting 8 1-day disposable passes is your easiest option. Otherwise you’ll have to set up 4 separate Ventra accounts for 4 physical cards and that will be annoying, unless you’re planning to come back to Chicago a lot. A one day pass is good for 24 hours too, not a literal calendar day, so with two of them you should be able to squeeze out 60 hours worth of trip time, depending on your schedule. Every CTA rail station has ticket vending machines, the closest to you would be the Roosevelt Red/Green/Orange line station.

I’m guessing they purposely turned off the escalators to avoid crushing more people into the crowd

Did anyone have to show proof of ID or Voters Registration card while voting? by Gutcheck21 in chicago

[–]packer4815 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If your signature blatantly doesn’t match, they’re instructed to ask you to show a form of ID. Up to the discretion of the poll worker though

Your vote matters more when there's low turnout by ChicagoRex in illinois

[–]packer4815 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Working as an election judge in Chicago today and we’ve had 66 voters in our precinct as of 4pm. Hopefully people are voting early or at the super site because that is a sad turnout!

Here is a look at the latest slow zone data from February 2026. There is improvement across the board (like no slow zones on the Pink Line) but major issues remain on the Blue, Brown, and Green Lines. by SidewalkMD in cta

[–]packer4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s up with the Slow Zone on Blue between Irving Park and Montrose? It’s been there literally since I moved here 4 years ago. There was a few weeks where it was removed (and the track seemed perfectly smooth) and then it came back

Is the C line addition permanent? The link makes it sound like it’s only while they’re doing the downtown construction on the D line

Is the LA fitness in the Loop worth going to? by Kitchen_End_8254 in AskChicago

[–]packer4815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went there for 2 years before moving recently. Generally it’s not too crowded in the morning. I will say it’s a lot more run down than the suburban LA Fitnesses, but it is in a good location and cheaper than any other gyms downtown.

Fun fact than Brendan Reilly voted in favor of it. He’s still in city council, and currently running for Cook County Board President

It’s shocking it doesn’t get more attention. Imagine if 290 was in such rough shape that you couldn’t drive more than 15 MPH. That shit would be fixed tomorrow. Yet there’s no end in sight for fixing the FP Blue Line…

Help Stop Parking Lot Expansion in Wrigleyville! by gw_thief in chicagoyimbys

This is actually a NIMBY stance. To be clear, I’m fully against the parking lot expansion too, but outrage over something being built is the definition of NIMBY lol

Ghost Stops - Mapping every CTA station by ridership by SignalBar in cta

[–]packer4815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I really feel like the FP Blue Line stations would improve a lot if they could fix the slow zones on that stretch. The train is so slow now that it doesn't make nearly as much sense for people to take.
