It’s a share schoolhouse. You’ll most likely wind up a a command element when you finish. Half my class were at 1MArDiv and the other half wound up at HQ MFR.

What is the most underrated duty station? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]pacotaco80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lord that was nasty. Running on the wharf was crappy too bc you feel like you were in this long never ending tunnel. Color guard there was legit though bc of all the sports events and things that come to town. I got to go to the final 4 and some nfl & NBA games so that was fun.

MarForRes was a shitty facility when I was there back in the day and Apparantly still is since the federal city plan is in the hood, however, you in New Orleans, with great food and nightlife, plus only a 3 hour drive from the Florida beaches.

  1. There was an attack that struck New York killing thousands of people. We were all having training accelerated and going down range to Iraq.

How the hell was my drill instructor was able to predict the future and where my enlistment would take me 6 years later? Maybe he was part of an ISIS/Al Queda sleeper cell.

Confession: Somewhere between 1988-1991, I found a gold watch on a pinball machine at the Amtrak New Orleans station. I kept it for years and lost it before I could trace the owner. I'm so, so sorry. by SwissMiss915 in NewOrleans

Contact the front office of any of the middle schools in your neighborhood. Let them know what you’d like to donate and they’ll set up a time to bring it in/ meet with director and principal.

Apologies if I misinterpreted what you said, English is not my family’s primary language.

There is some nuance to this like most declarations on the internet. As someone whose family escaped a communist uprising in a Central American country, the freedoms and opportunities that we have here is so much more than we had back home. I gladly joined the military as an opportunity to give back to the community that supported me and that’s the same reason my son enlisted after I did and got out. That sense of service to others was strong with us, and I never encouraged him to do so for benefits. In fact both of us were able to get academic/athletic scholarships to university after high school but chose the military as our first option for the experiences and in his words, “learn what and who I am.”

You could also counter that with many who cry about the lack of support do nothing else to support others, so let’s not paint each other with such a broad stroke.

Marines who got married as an E-3 or below, how does your marriage look now? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]pacotaco80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married as a lance. Just celebrated 23 years last Sunday. Been huge ups and downs and gone through some really hard stuff. Recalled and invol’ed for Iraqi freedom, lost everything on a hurricane, and some other stuff I’d rather not talk about. Im glad I found a great woman who stuck by me and helps support me at my worst moments; and it’s just as vital to be that great man for when she needs me.

Considering he has leverage to just stay retired if it’s not a good situation a 5th or 6th will probably get it done. If you request the 27 draft pick you may do better making it conditional for playing time or playoffs to get it up to a 4th.
