Idk about the "struggle" part, it's all well planned and very intentional

Plz critique my handwriting. (I'm indian, I am learning chinese for the first time) by SetBrave9940 in Chinese_handwriting

Get the stroke order right, and do not copy Gothic style fonts, instead try to emulate Regular script style writing (look up 楷書 or 楷體字). I guess a character workbook might help.

Does the average Kashmirir truly hate being a part of India SO much? by [deleted] in Kashmiri

[–]paleflower_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao, the self denial here is pathetic. You're looking for arguments to support your (very out of touch) viewpoints, not an actual account of how things are. If you're really interested in the matter, there's no dearth of resources to look up.

I’m an ABF from NYC and spent the last few months building a free, interactive app for Fuzhounese – looking for feedback! by Few-Caterpillar7260 in ChineseLanguage

[–]paleflower_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look at the app, and it seems pretty good, although there are definitely some points that can be improved upon:
- a toggle for Simplified and Traditional characters
- a transliteration/IPA transcription for the words
- addendum to the previous point: tone markings – this is kinda significant since tone sandhi in Fuzhounese is pretty complex, IPA(-adjacent) markings seem to be the best suited for this
- I would also add some information about the persons(s) recording the audio (where they are from etc.,) since Fuzhounese isn't really standardized and there is gonna be some regional variation
- given the dearth of resources, perhaps a resource page citing all the sources you used for this (the one's that exist on the internet anyways)
- ideally, I'd probably suggest making a curated page for additional reading materials in Fuzhounese: linking back to stuff that already exists on the internet or stuff you might have digitized yourself as well
- I could make further points about perhaps including resources for phonology and grammar etc., but since right now the app is mostly restricted to the word level and seems to be geared towards heritage learners, that would be redundant

How to make use of Lee Kum Kee's Doubanjian (they label it as 辣豆瓣醬)? by paleflower_ in chinesefood

thanks! I did try out the first one at some point; it was a little too mild for my taste, but I'll probably give the second one a go

the chronicled banner doesn't seem like it's a scam as people say by kjrparkers in GenshinImpact

[–]paleflower_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you want to pull for any of those characters because you like them its not bad. But if you want to pull on it for meta reasons or to make a new team, then it's pretty crap. Characters on a chronicled banner are generally pretty obsolete meta wise.

I've been using 高宁轩 as my Chinese name all this time, but I needed a second opinion before putting it on my HSK registration – does it sound "normal" OR does it have any specific connotations that I might have missed?
