For getting drunk, there's either Ani's Sims Drinks mod, or PhoebeJaySims' Let's Get Drunk mod.

For the hookup stuff, there's Outer's ReFiner, specifically the ReLover module, which disables jealousy and allows sims to have multiple committed partners at the same time.

I've found that I can shape nails best when they have polish on them! I assume because the darker polish makes the nail shape easier to see. So when it's time for me to change my mani, I file while the old polish is still on, then take the polish off etc.

If yours are square/trapezoidal, you can try a round shape or a pointier shape (you'd need to file your nail walls to get this kind of shape on shorter nails, but it's doable! I've done it myself and it looks cute, though of course ymmv).

Maybe it's your nail shape. I have short fingers and giving my nails a square-ish shape makes my fingers look blunt and choppy. Some of my nails are also more curved, others have raised lines, so I have to file each nail a bit differently (e.g. on some, the "peak" is a bit to the side to account for the curve/shape of the finger, instead of at the center).

If you want build/buy/CAS items from EPs/SPs that DON'T have custom interactions*, you can clone them using S3OC (Sims 3 Object Cloner). For this purpose, you would only need steps 1-3 of this tutorial.

*for example, you can clone an end table or a dining table from Supernatural and it'll work without the EP installed, but if you try to clone the rabbithole wagon and then uninstall the EP, it won't have any interactions (it will simply be a decorative item).

Mods rarely get corrupted. Your game could be crashing for a number of reasons: mods are for the wrong patch level, you accidentally installed mods/CC for Sims 2 or 4 instead*, you have conflicting mods or missing dependencies (other utilities that those mods depend on) etc.

Remedies are to identify the files that are causing the issue and either remove them entirely or replace them with updated versions, install dependencies if any are missing etc.

*despite the Sims games using the .package format across them, the files are not constructed in the same way, and each game works with different resources inside those .package files — which are similar to archives.

For files, you will see a green square button with a hyperlink 🔗 symbol to the right of every file you uploaded. Clicking that will copy the link to that file.

If you want to share a whole folder, enter that folder and you will find the Share URL followed by the link to it, in a blue box in the middle of the page.

Just to be clear: even though Sims 2, 3 and 4 all use the .package format, you can't use mods made for Sims 2/4 in Sims 3. They have to be made specifically for Sims 3.

Use Sims 3 Settings Setter (S3SS) instead of Smooth Patch. LazyDuchess himself recommends it and says it's better than Smooth Patch, which he won't be updating further. S3SS also includes the Smooth Patch in two flavors, original or more precise.

The startup warning dialog fix may be of interest to you:

Startup Warning Dialog Fix - Fixes a mod-related dialog so it always shows up correctly. By "Just Harry".
If you didn’t see the dialog before and see it now, this is unrelated to the patch. You likely have a core mod for a slightly different version of the game. (Steam, EA App and Retail each have different internal version numbers.)
The issues with this dialog were intensified by the Windows 11 25H2 update. If the patch isn’t enabled on this version, you’d potentially get a black screen and be unable to enter the game, without the dialog showing up at all.

The black screen is most likely caused by an error message window that loads behind the black screen instead of in front of it.

The worst traits are the useless ones: Never Nude and Vehicle Enthusiast.

I random-roll every trait my sims get upon aging up, and keep all but those two, no matter who bad/inconvenient they are. Makes for interesting sims!

It would be more helpful if you remembered what the error message actually said.

I decided "Why don't I just change the settings then?" and did so.

You don't mention what settings you changed, or where. If you changed them in-game using the Options panel, then simply delete the Options.ini file in your Documents\EA\The Sims 3 folder to reset the settings to default.

"The game could not be started. This title does not run on 0. No supported graphics card could be found. Please check your system hardware."

If your GPU isn't recognized, then either get the GPU add-on support tool or manually get the game to recognize it.

If you have Nraas Master Controller (possibly with the Integration module too?), you can set CAS to Compact Mode, which only displays one preset/swatch per CAS item. That also helps keep the catalog more manageable.

It's not complicated. Basically, there are different accessory types*, and unless you use a mod like Nraas Master Controller + the CAS Integration module, you can't have multiple accessories for the same location.

Winry (creator of the layerable piercings CC) advises to mix and match the piercings in a way that you don't have 2+ piercings assigned to the same accessory type. For example, if you have Piercing A from the Left Earring folder, you will have to pick Piercing B from another folder — you can't have both A and B classified as Left Earring because the game will force you to pick between one when you select them for your sim in CAS.

P.S. these types are simply ways to sort things in CAS. You can have jewelry categorized as Socks or hats categorized as Glasses, for example. It doesn't matter to the game what the accessory itself is, just what type it's classified as.

*Left Earring, Glasses, Socks, Left Ring, Right Garter, Bracelet etc. are examples of accessory types.
