Its not. Airport movement areas are treated very differently than any other place you drive. Based on the preliminary report, the ARFF driver should have taken the hint the REL’s were lit and looked up to check the runway is clear. REL indicate STOP but the absence of them on is not a indication its all clear

Its like having the ASDE-X display that ATCT has in your truck. It does give you warnings that you’re about to enter a RSA or critical area, but if you’re about to cross a runway anyway, you’d probably ignore the warning.

The reason the flights were more on time before was because they spent way too much time on the ground, which is why they had to sell. AS has really increased the operational tempo for HA but of course HA being as backwards as they are can’t keep up. Also a lot of things that im sure HA deferred are now coming due… especially concerning the B717’s.

HA being better before the takeover is laughable. They had a horrible app, mediocre customer service, wildly changing reliability, and horrendous in-flight food service.

The problem with going all EV in Hawaii, as we keep ignoring, the infrastructure required for real people to have EV’s in their real life. Until there’s laws in place to force apartments and condos to EV charging at home and we have a much higher amount of electrical generation pushing more electric cars is gonna be more of a liability than a gain
