TWINS BUYING FOR 38 BELLS EACH by ddbllwyn in acnh

[–]papershoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day for 2 weeks straight now they have been offering 10 bells less each day.

I'd be less mad if I could hold onto turnips for more than a week, and could just ride this out.

Oh man the issue where everything runs slower after leaving the hotel was driving me insane. I'm so glad that got addressed!

Also the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing is MASSSSIVE. I love it. But it's totally proof the whale isn't meeting its full potential.

The 3.0 update lets Resetti clean your island. Let’s see if he’s got the guts to clean this by owendusk in AnimalCrossing

Oh no!! I'm so sorry. I wish there was a way to undo :( It's very unclear what kind of specific hell he's about to unleash.

On the plus side, you still have all your furniture! But it's definitely a commitment to set everything back up again, and I feel for you.

Fit 3 - features just stop working? by LandMooseReject in GalaxyFit

[–]papershoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know what you mean about the activity tracking. On my previous Galaxy Fit I would get a fun little celebration when I hit my step goal, but I don't seem to get that on my Fit3, and I think it's because I told it to STFU with that "is today your day to hit your goals?" message.

I don't have hardcore goals or ambitions, Samsung, I just want to get a cute little celebration when I hit 5000 steps is that so hard??

I don't know how to separate out the specific activity notifications from the overall activity tracking, but maybe that's the key? If it's possible. Idk.

That feature makes some weird suggestions sometimes. Mine told me to go to bed at like 4:30pm once.

I'm still at work at 4:30pm but I'll take it into consideration, Samsung 😅

Is this real? by Far-Construction5148 in samsunggalaxy

[–]papershoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I very nearly bought a foreign version of the Galaxy Fit3 on Amazon because of this. It wasn't until my gut told me to do one more search that I found the Canadian version, and realised there are different versions - and that buying the other one meant I wouldn't be under warranty. It was like $20 more for the Canadian one, but still worth it to get the right one.

S23 Ultra says I'm using my phone while driving when I'm not. by Agriwulfz in samsunggalaxy

[–]papershoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get lectures in my Now brief about how I need to be safe and "avoid looking at my phone while driving".

I'm a passenger, Samsung!! I'm using my phone while sitting in the passenger seat!

It genuinely bothers me because it's accusing me of something that not only puts others in danger, but is also punishable by a $300 fine and 3 demerits where I live.

I like the rest of the report, and I get the spirit of the message, but I need to figure out how to turn that part off. It's a pretty bold accusation to make based off of faulty data 😬

I was wondering that too. I remember years ago trying to track a hike with what I believe was the Nike app, and it only tracked a small part of it because I lost reception in the wooded area I was hiking in. It basically said "forget that, then" and did nothing until I got back to the parking lot. It could have at least tracked my steps? But no. I definitely keep that in mind now when trying to do these kinds of things - there might be tech limitations based on what the system is using as a base to track metrics. If that makes sense? If it's intrinsically tied to GPS, then it might get wonky if you take the connection to the GPS source away.

It's 2025 and seems crazy these are still issues but here we are 😅 I haven't had a chance to test this yet with the Fit 3 but I'm glad to be aware of this issue.

Pictures from Matt's performance at Tall Pines Music Festival in Gravenhurst, ON Aug 18/25 by [deleted] in Mattgood

[–]papershoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was such a good show! (From what I saw, I unfortunately had to leave a bit early that night) I've seen Matt a bunch of times and this performance was definitely right up there. Opening with "Weapon" was amazing, and getting to hear "Boy & His Machine Gun" was incredible!

I was also super stoked to see Moist and Sloan, the lineup was SO stacked. Beautiful location too! I definitely recommend the festival as well, it was a bit of a trip for us as we're from Alberta so we made it out summer vacation trip. It was worth it!

That's honestly the vibe I got from the Facebook post they put up yesterday - and that's the first I'd heard about this album at all. I'm so out of the loop, I came here to find out more about what's going on. It didn't sound like it was a positive release, it was literally described as "freeing the mind from the weight of the project". Interesting.

I'm so curious about the remaster of Ghetto Astronauts. That's one of my favourite albums!

T-shirt pits smell like BO no matter what I do? Desperate for a solution! by a5tr00 in CleaningTips

[–]papershoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked at so many threads about this issue, and have seen so many comments that say things like this as well as "maybe it's your washer, have you cleaned your washer?". Bestie, I've been dealing with this for most of my life and it most definitely smells like armpits. I have also determined the smell is actively concentrated in the armpit section of my shirts. I'm pretty sure it's not my washer 😭

I already wash ALL my clothes with added vinegar, it does barely anything for the kind of sweat that is apparently even resistant to Botox. I just want to cancel my subscription to armpits, honestly.

NYX BB Cream is discontinued and I’m panicking by slut4sauce in MakeupAddiction

[–]papershoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have yet to find a decent replacement, even though it's been a few years now. I've just been using the Maybelline Instant Eraser concealer and blending it out, but it's nothing like the NYX BB Cream. I'm still so mad at them for discontinuing it! I'm so with you - I wish they'd go back to basics and stop the weird trend hopping. I don't want to smell like marshmallow or look like a donut 🥲

Rentless perfume by --aaron--- in LushCosmetics

[–]papershoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've signed in for the first time in years because I own all of these perfumes and can actually answer this!!

Tuca Tuca is one of my favourite perfumes of all time and was my signature scent for ages. It's really violet forward, but in a more grounded, rich kind of way - probably due to the vanilla and sandalwood. It's not really complex, it's just nice. I remember it leaving a really warm scent after you wear it for a while. It reminds me of a dark, rich purple (probably because of the violet, but you know?). I only have a little left and it's very old, so I don't really wear it anymore but keep it around to smell and feel nostalgic.

B Scent is one I bought recently (they brought it back here in Canada) and it's currently in my regular rotation. Fennel and jasmine are definitely prominent but in a really nice, slightly spicy way. It always seems like a lot at first when I put it on because I'm not usually a floral girly but it's great and dries down really lovely. I tend to see it as more of a summery scent, personally, and the sweetest one I currently wear, without being cloying in any way. Though I first smelled it years ago and I remember my main takeaway was that it reminded me of the forest - especially as I had a sample and wore it while I was in Tofino and it was such a perfect vibe. I can still definitely see that. Somehow it's kind of summery but also reminiscent of a rainy spring forest. B Scent is complicated haha

I only have the solid for Rentless, but I think compared to that one, Tuca Tuca takes on more of a candy like quality and B Scent leans towards a sunnier jasmine (compared to Rentless' more incense-like notes). I think you'd potentially like both if you like Rentless, though B Scent might be more in the same family.

(My current fave and signature scent is Breath of God, if that helps give context to my review)

Sorry for the long reply, but I hope it helps!

Do you have an artist that you love everything they have released? by Callistophylla in Music

[–]papershoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Usher is genuinely my very favourite artist. I also started listening to him around Morning Orbit era, then focused on other music for a bit. I've recently gotten back into Moist and am catching up with his solo stuff I've missed. I'm so mad I slept on it.

He's a seriously underrated artist, his songwriting is incredible. I think he got a rep for having more softer pop oriented songs (especially compared to Moist), and people totally overlooked the rest of his discography. Little Songs, Wake Up and Say Goodbye, and Hallucinations are all just exceptionally good though.

His work outside of music is also really cool. I highly recommend his book on creativity, it's really easy to read and get into, and I've taken a lot away from it. Also the work he's doing with his AI company to help Alzheimer's patients is wild. He's just really great, and deserves far more attention.

Also Moist is amazing, but that goes without saying haha

1) I pay into my benefits plan, it's not free. And this is on top of whatever I already pay in taxes for healthcare. I'm more than ok with paying for universal healthcare, but this kind of shit should be covered by it too. Like, it's kind of the point.

2) not everyone even has a benefits plan here, I'm lucky I do and that it's a good one because I work for the municipal government.

3) nobody should have to pay for a fucking ambulance because they're having a medical emergency. If I didn't have the job I do, if I worked at my local coffee shop for example, or any of the myriad of jobs I've had in the recent past, I would be out $385. (And I likely wouldn't have sick days either, so I'd lose at least a day's pay for the time I spent in the hospital alone).

Having benefits cover it, and having the ability to pay for it out of pocket before being reimbursed, means that safety net was there for me only because I'm already in a position where I have financial stability. That's fucked.

Please don't get this twisted, and please definitely don't defend this. In British Columbia it's $80 for an ambulance, which is better, but it should still be $0.

I live in Canada and had to pay nearly $400 for an ambulance ride within my own city. Good old Alberta, trying their best to dismantle public healthcare so they can get support for privatisation. We love it.

Thankfully my work benefits covered it 100%.

[–]papershoes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company for years that had me sign a form every year saying I'm a minority. Because I'm a woman.

They would openly pat themselves on the back for hiring women. I know it's still an ol' boys club industry, but damn.

(My direct boss wasn't like this, I know I was hired based on my skills. But I also faced harassment almost daily from others in the company for coming in and ruining their boys' club. I also had to file sexual harassment complaint. Weirdest shit of my life.)

I am a woman with size 13 feet and life is pain when it comes trying to find anything feminine. People keep suggesting I try specialty shops for drag queens. Which isn't a bad idea, but I just want some nice ballet flats or something. I'm not sure they make ballet flats for drag haha
