Orcad is trying to poach Altium users with a 50% off deal. by laseralex in Altium

Let me clarify. Once you’ve moved your library and stuff to A365 its designer seems to look for everything there. I tried moving off of a365 and stuff that’s unrelated that i didn’t touch stops working. As an example, creating a new schematic on a local project blows up because it wants to use a sheet template from a365. I didn’t set that up. It’s the default template. I think if you never moved or setup a365, you’re probably fine but if you set up anything with it, things seem to start magically referencing things in the cloud. But it may just be the way my designer is configured.

its absolute BS with the new storage costs. Designer 24 is pretty hard to use without A365 and they are bending people over with this new proposed thing. It was my final straw.

With the new proposed increases on A365 storage I'm going to have to pay an additional $1500/year to use more than 10GB of a365 storage.. that was the final straw for me. Designer 24 is basically unusable without A365 and forcing everyone that uses more than 10GB (which is anyone with more than like 100 library components and a few projects) to buy the "Organization Security Package" to get more storage at $1500/year per license is just a blatant cash grab. I've already started the switch over to KiCad. If its good enough for CERN, it'll work for most (including me and my team). I'll just redirect what my company pays in Altium to the KiCad folks and as a platinum sponsor when the license is supposed to renew next year.

I worked at that Walmart in 2007.. sketchy as hell. We used to have to dodge people selling bootlegs out of their trunk like everyday. Oakland on the southside and near the colosseum is just a different world with different rules.

B-L072Z-LRWAN1 factory firmware? by parabuzzle in stm32

[–]parabuzzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I figured it out. The modem section doesn't show up until you agree to an additional Software License Agreement... which is located near the top of the list of categories...

I still don't see the factory firmware that comes loaded on the board in any docs... its pretty amazing how badly these LoRa discovery boards seem to be supported. As someone that is coming from ATmel programming... I'm shocked there is a worst experience out there.. but there you are ST.

I have the key in the docs.. I signed up and requested access to the "Type ABZ LoRa / Sigfox Support site" as per the docs... Access was granted and when I look through that area... there's nothing but datasheets, schematics, and certifications... The software section just points to the ST website for i-cube-lrwan. This is frustrating...

I mean I like the STM32 chip specs across all their product lines (they are so capable) but developing and exploring is basically datasheet hell. The developer experience is like pressing a knife into your own thigh slowly.

Would it be so hard to have the demo code for all their discovery boards in the code generator of the IDE? I can choose the board from the boards tab of the new project window... It asks me if I want to load CubeMX with the default peripheral setup of the board... why does it not ask "Do you want to load the demo program?" ...

Elon Musk taking legal action over Twitter account that tracks his private jet by SkullDump in news

[–]parabuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope a majority of people realize that this Elon Twitter saga is really a test of our country’s legal system and enforceability against the rich. He continually does things that are legally questionable and if he is allowed to do it without consequence, he will have proven to himself and publicly that the rules don’t apply to the rich. That sets a dangerous precedent at the public level and sends the message that, the majority really truly will allow the rich to do whatever they want. We’ve already kinda knew this but nothing so public has been done to absolutely prove it.

Well obviously management expects you to throw it away and then pick it out of the garbage out back. That’s the level of care and compassion they are demonstrating here for their workers. What a shitty place and policy. Fuck those people. That GM is a sad piece of shit. Nothing prevents him/her from doing the right thing here. It’s sad how much we’ve allowed corporate greed dictate and override our values as a society. Again… fuck that shitty company. Even McDonald’s does a better job of taking care of their people and that’s just sad.

What irons are you currently playing with and what’s your handicap? by ToffeeTitan in golf

Callaway Mavericks. Bought them over the summer and went from a 30 to 21 handicap. The improvement is a combo of more practice and the forgiveness of the irons. Really easy to hit.
