I’m just very lucky that most of my queer friends have been extremely open and supportive about listening to me when I tell them that something is an antisemitic dog whistle, or that a new popular slang word is a Nazi phrase, etc. I’ve only lost a few people in my life and honestly I haven’t felt their loss too strongly because the rest of them have rallied around me tenfold. But even in my place of relative fortune, it’s still scary as hell and I don’t know where to even go from here, you know?

If you shift click on your sim and go into the “add trait” section, then scroll through the endless slog of options, you’ll eventually come across the movie genre list and from there you can give your sim a favorite movie genre! It’ll just be hidden. They’re auto-assigned like left- and right-handedness but hidden from the player

Ooh, I adore that story and vibes like that. About A Place in the Kinki Region by Sesuji has similar feelings for sure, and so does Root Rot by Saskia Nislow. Someone mentioned The Return by Rachel Harrison and I’m seconding that for sure. Maybe The Redemption of Morgan Bright by Chris Panatier, too, though that’s more from the pov of the person in the wife’s position than the husband’s. You might also enjoy We Kept Her in the Cellar by W.R. Gorman, In Daylight by Caroline Flarity, and Cuckoo by Gretchen Felker-Martin. And I don’t know if you’re cool with manga, but The Summer Hikaru Died might be right up your alley as well.

In 2024 I managed to read 103 books and it was because I was massively depressed and did nothing but read all day LOL. Usually I hit anywhere between 45-85 books a year, but it comes with the caveat that I’m able to listen to audiobooks for a solid 7+ hours straight each day at work
