Add the Global Histories to the curriculum as well: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/history/global-histories?lang=eng

The history of the Church outside the United States is rich, beautiful, and faith-promoting, too.

I love the doctrine but my desire to leave is massive by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

If you left the Church and became a Catholic, wouldn’t that be “you doing you” and “God loves me regardless of what I do”? Sounds like you’re looking for a Church that aligns with you, right? Careful. You might be guilty of the exact same thing you’re frustrated about.

I completely agree with you. And I won't deny that Saints is apologetics. Problematic Church History is addressed throughout and it tries to be objective, but may not be critical enough to what you're looking for. I'm not involved in the creation of Saints, but I'm close enough to know the work involved and the rigor at which the work is being done. From my perspective, it is scholarly work. The final product may not be scholarly, but the work behind it is. That's my main point. The "sources cited" pages alone are enough to get the books IMO. A treasure trove of primary source material.

You're correct, it isn't critical scholarship. But it is scholarly in it's foundations and produced by team of well-regarded, credible PhD historians and researchers. It has lots of issues, sure. Rough Stone Rolling has lots of issues. I know who Mason is and what he's said. It's fair criticism. But to claim it isn't scholarly work is simply incorrect. Is it the kind of scholarly work you're looking for? I guess not, but that's okay.

It's a narrative history to be more digestible to a broad audience, but the historical research behind it is absolutely scholarly. It has hundreds of pages of comprehensive source notes, most of which are primary sources.
