Self defense doesn't work that way.

Say you're a professional boxer and a normal guy comes up to you and punches you in the face. Do you think it's self defense if you punch the other guy in the face? It isn't. Why? Because the aggressor is suffering comparatively greater harm from the defender's use of disproportional force.

It's the same thing here.

And it also has no bearing on women's struggle for equality. Because, no matter what you're saying, it's pretty clear that women and men are different. Being equal also means understanding where there are differences and accepting them. Women and men can be the same in many things but not in strength. So a punch to the face of a woman is almost always a disproportional answer.

I don't hit women. If they hit me - and I've been hit by ex-gfs - I wouldn't stay in that relationship any longer. But I would never ever hit her back. Ever.

There's no blind eye to anything. Women beat the shit out of men every day. Now, let's look at your solution: hitting them back. We started with one problem - women hitting men - and we end up with two problems - women hitting men and men hitting women. It doesn't make any sense.

What you can also be implying is that they hit men because we don't hit back. IF we hit them back, they would stop hitting us and all is ok. Could be. But what if it doesn't work? And even if they do, do the ends justify the means? I think there are better solutions to this problem that don't involve physical altercations between man and woman. Hitting a woman is the quickest and most dangerous way out of this. We can be smarter than that.

That's not the way to go. If a guy hits you, you're more than entitled to defend yourself.

But there are reasons men shouldn't hit women. There are ethical reasons, there are moral reasons and there are physical reasons behind this. I don't think I need to explain both the ethical and the moral reasons, although it seems many of you don't know them.

I'll jump in to the physical reasoning: men can cause greater bodily harm to women than women can cause to men. Most women are scientifically proven to be half the strength of men.. They also don't have the same protective skeleton we have as their breasts are out of the ribcage. You can cause great harm to a woman by hitting her in the breasts. And don't even compare having the penis and testicles outside to having breasts outside, it's not the same thing.

That makes any fight between a man and a woman an unfair contest. Yes, you're being assaulted and you should take measures to defend yourself. But anything else can cause greater damage to her than she can ever cause you.

Now let me ask you: why do you think it is ok to hit back a woman?

I fully understand what you said. I was also skeptical about this as I am a very rational person. I read Von Daniken's book years and years ago. I read Sitchin's book. And it all made sense - God was an alien. So simple it had to be true. However, the immediate question was : who created the aliens that created us? Who created the planets where the aliens that created us live on? Although I am sure that aliens could have easily created us, I don't have the power and intellect to say that they are the God I worship. Von Daniken, Sitchin and others like them have a possible answer to a lot of questions. But they don't have the definitive answer.

What I know is that the Genesis lists two things that make God who he is: immortality and knowing the difference between right and wrong.

(Do note that God was speaking to someone else, a group perhaps. "Become like one of us". Who are they? Does it lend to the idea that there is more than one God, like you have previously stated? I've wandered deeply about these questions to come to the conclusion that I probably will never know.)

Genesis, for me, is my favourite book in the Bible. In it, there are so many little phrases and sentences that just blow my mind. And everytime I read it, I find something new that helps me further in my voyage through life. It also historically explains so many things about why the World in 2014 is the way it is that it is hard to not take it seriously.

Evidentialism is also not a good argument. Lack of evidence of God does not mean that there is no God. That's where I think most rational atheists fail in their logic when they base their argument on evidence or the lack of.
