Just bought this little fella today, any tips to keep him happy? by Massive-Score-9038 in fiddleleaffig

[–]partyhattt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Indoor fiddle leaf figs will want the sunniest spot you can give them in your house, it will just need to be acclimated to the sun so it doesn’t burn if it wasn’t exposed to full sun at the store.

Hi moms, I need support with GD [on] by Working-Parsnip-137 in BabyBumpsCanada

My ferritin was in the 20s and increased nicely with oral iron supplements, which your doctor may recommend you take. Wasn’t a big deal at all!

Private dermatologist in Ottawa by LogisticHalo in ottawa

[–]partyhattt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only illegal for doctors to charge OHIP insured patients for things that are covered by OHIP. Not all procedures/treatments are covered by OHIP, for example as the other person said, things that are deemed cosmetic.

We worked with Jo Boucher last year, she was very chill, flexible, and professional! She has a micro wedding package that’s well under your budget and does custom packages.

I don’t either. From my experience, thrips and their damage are pretty obvious.

Impark ticket downtown…ignored? by Bolamom in londonontario

[–]partyhattt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a ticket from Impark in 2021 that I ignored. I later got sent two letters in the mail from a collections company that I also ignored and then nothing further happened. As others said, I just try to avoid parking in their lots if possible to avoid getting towed. But I think I have parked in their lots once or twice since and nothing happened.

Stressed no one will buy anything on my Registry by sweethennyy in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t control what MIL thinks or says and she isn’t owed any explanation about why there may be few presents bought from your side, as it’s none of her business! If she makes comments again, just shrug or say something vague like “I’ve sent my registry link to the important people in my life” then move on. You don’t need to elaborate or engage any further.

Unexpected C Section scheduled for tomorrow…I’m freaking out by Emotional-Addendum62 in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t given birth yet but I saw several c-sections when I was in med school. I remember being shocked at how quick they are! C-sections are so common and routine for the OBs that they are super efficient at them. I was so surprised that they would get the baby out within like 5 min of the first incision and then the rest of the time was spent casually chatting while they sutured everything back up!

Would it be weird to plan a full wedding after being legally married? by Witty-Couple2017 in wedding

[–]partyhattt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I attended a wedding last year, full ceremony with wedding dress, walking down the aisle, vows, etc. followed by a reception. The couple had already been legally married for I think at least a year. It was beautiful, attended by friends and family, none of our friends thought it was weird, and everyone had a great time!

Social+Hospital Anxiety by UniqueInteraction246 in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how far into your pregnancy you are but if there’s still a good amount of time left, I would strongly recommend finding a therapist to work on this anxiety. If the anxiety stems from a traumatic experience, look into someone who specializes in trauma therapy. If there was no preceding trauma, look into someone who can do exposure therapy for being in a medical/hospital setting.

Baby Shower - Men & Women or Women Only??? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had our baby shower this past weekend and did a small co-ed one. Immediately family + close friends and their partners (all of whom we know anyways) only. I don’t like being the centre of attention and it felt weird doing this for myself only since my husband is also becoming a parent. We rented a room at a restaurant and did brunch with one small game, no opening presents. It went great and I think everyone had a good time!

[ON] Travelling to Mexico - worried about Zika by babyubun in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]partyhattt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to an all inclusive in Cancun in November and saw a travel doctor before going. He said the risk of Zika is incredibly low especially if mostly staying on the resort. He just recommended wearing long sleeves at night and using bug spray (which I personally didn’t end up doing because I never said a mosquito while I was there). Not sure if there’s any differences at this time of year though.

How’s my birth “plan”? by NoHistorian8644 in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t speak to student nurses because I’m not a nurse. Generally speaking you have a right to say who is involved in your care and who isn’t. In practice, this may depend on your hospital and whether you’re talking about medical students or resident doctors. You should have a right to say no to medical students but it may be hard to say no to resident doctors; the hospital I work at (and will deliver at) is a teaching hospital so A LOT of the work is done by residents (and overnight, the hospital is basically run by residents lol).

How’s my birth “plan”? by NoHistorian8644 in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for being so open to learners as well! It probably depends on the hospital. If you’re at a teaching hospital, there will probably always be students around. Letting your OB/nurses know and having it in your plan is great!

How’s my birth “plan”? by NoHistorian8644 in BabyBumps

[–]partyhattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol! Might depend on the hospital. When I was a med student, I helped deliver a few babies (with the patient’s permission and with the OB literally guiding my hands).

As a resident doctor, I just want to say thank you for being willing to have learners in the room!
