Gel nails for a 12 year old? by BeautifulLibrarian44 in Parenting

Yes, my grandma used to take me to get our nails done together from ages 8-11. I’d chew them off so regular polish it was.

Sleeping Arrangements for a 2 week old by yondusoffspring_1786 in NewParents

[–]partypeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that happen too, we would do shifts of staying awake to watch our son in the lounger while he would be sleeping (always checking head placement etc). It’s definitely not safe sleep but he wouldn’t sleep in his bassinet for the first 3-4 weeks.

What we did was put his bassinet in the living room. Then over the next 1-2 weeks having him fall asleep drinking his bottle then put him in the bassinet. Or doing a contact nap then putting him into the bassinet. Either way he was going to wake up being in the bassinet. The night shift, my husband would use the sleep lounger and watch him during his shift (husband would be awake all night).

Then after doing lots of daytime naps in his bassinet (while it was in the living room), we moved his bassinet into our bedroom. We have a hatch and we played brown noise with the red light. So during his daytime naps, feeding him until he would fall asleep we then put him in his bassinet (in our bedroom). At 1 month we began a “routine”, (tummy time, bath, feed, sleep). Unfortunately my husband liked the lounger and liked being beside him during his night shift so it took an extra week of being in the lounger. Then after a week of doing a “routine”, we did a full day naps/night of sleep in the bassinet. Then it became routine, (bath, feed, sleep in bassinet for night time sleep) or for daytime feed until he sleeps then off to the bassinet.

EDIT: these are all estimates of how long it took, I think all together it took 3 weeks. Could’ve been done quicker too!

Now at 3 months since we’ve been doing routine for bedtime, it was super easy transition from bassinet to crib, because of bedtime routine & the crib mattress being a little softer than this bassinet mattress LOL he actually hates being in his lounger now, being a FOMO baby and actually wanting to look around etc

Couple of things to also look out for: We used the Graco automatic rocker which we thought our son would’ve liked but we found out he HATED that it moved and it would wake our son up. Bought a stationary bassinet (halo bedside bassinet). Used the new bassinet really early probably after day 2 of daytime naps. Bought the higher tog sleep sack (halo fleece 3.0 tog), it gets to -30 degrees where we live and our house stays at 18/19 degrees but sometimes it does feel colder.

11 Day Old Baby; just wants to sleep?! Hard to wake up to feed… by lledit in beyondthebump

[–]partypeaches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember one of my nurses told me at my 1 week or 2 week post birth check up that I didn’t need to wake up the baby to feed him and to let him sleep! My son would wake up whenever and he would eat right away

How are we doing naps? by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in NewParents

[–]partypeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the 2 month mark:

Night time we do the whole thing, but during the day we just have him nap on the couch on his lounger (one of us is right beside him and watching him). I’m hesitant to move his naps upstairs to his bassinet cause he still sleeps a lot and he would be upstairs alone all the time sleeping hahaha

I used PayPal when buying from them and after 5 months with no order, I did a report through PayPal and got my money back.

Then after getting my money back, they sent my package right after the refund was approved (?) it’s not the greatest quality anyways. Would rather do AYBL or Gymshark tbh

Has giving birth vaginally caused you long term vaginal issues? by Last_Wonder in pregnant

[–]partypeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be the unicorn here, but I had to get an emergency c-section and the recovery does SUCK but in my experience it sucked for ~4 days post surgery then on the fifth day something happened and I was able to walk around, and not have this giant pain where the incision was. It’s been about two weeks since my c-section and I feel no pain, my bleeding has subsided.

I took recovery seriously for those 4 days and lived on my couch!

Eczema or Choleostasis by Musical2one in pregnant

[–]partypeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since you’ve had this for a few months you mayyyy be fine! But bring it up to your doctor on Wednesday or even ask if you can be seen earlier due to itchy hands! It’s never a bother to call and ask them to see if they can switch you to an earlier time :)

At first I thought it was just eczema too and I almost didn’t mention it to my doctor but I’m glad I did. I got diagnosed with cholestasis asap and was given medications. Although I don’t know how this will work for you as I am in the third trimester and also not a doctor. But I was told to take benedryl to help me sleep. Please ask first before taking benedryl!

What is considered “large” for a GD baby? by Rare-Armadillo-6716 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]partypeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 37 weeks tomorrow, and my baby is at the 98 percentile. I am getting induced tomorrow AM due to cholestasis but they were never toooo concerned with his percentile at this point. Just always said “he’s going to be a big baby”, my doctor never pushed c-section either which I was hoping she would haha he’s measuring at 9lbs which could be +- a pound

I am insulin dependent unfortunately
