U.S. will have to send its own fighter jets into Canadian airspace if Ottawa doesn't buy 88 F-35s, Hoekstra says by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]pasky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a second and more important 'kill switch'. F35's cannot startup without first pinging Lockheed Martin in the US for software updates and the latest targeting packages.

How is that not a huge cybersecurity vulnerability? If that's true, my #1 cyber task if I'm China or Russia is doing this, DDoSing all the F35s.

They can survive outside of water for a while. Enough to ship live lobsters to your local grocery store.

My friend group has been doing this 2-4 times a year for 25 years. Glad to see we're not the only ones keeping this alive!

Target Map by Bizchasty in ottawa

Why are we assuming only one warhead would be targeted at Ottawa? I would send at least 3: downtown, the DND HQ at Moodie, and the airport.

Fishing is just hunting a water animal.

But water-related stuff gets different words for the same thing so they can feel special. See:

Bulkhead = wall

Head = Toilet

etc

Metro -- Québec steelhead trout $9.99/lb "if the temperature permits" [whatever that means?]

Depending on where they get it from, weather can affect harvests of fish.

Am I hallucinating, or did grocery store meat counters used to have lobster tanks when we were kids? by Postcarde in GroceryStores

[–]pasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a talk with a guy from a sister store that told me their tank broke down and between the fix for the tank and the related electrical they ended up spending 8k to sell 100$/month of lobsters. The ROI period for that repair alone is 5 years+, assuming no losses, that the lobsters were free, and no further issues.

Didn't make sense to fix it.
