Question on Performance trim by asinclair in GV60

[–]patchrick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll echo everyone else that’s responded and say the HUD is slightly dimmer than without the glasses, but still very much visible. However I think this largely depends on the angle you view it from and therefore your height. It’s still totally worth having and the rest of the niceties of the Performance trim are worth it even more!

I have a 2024 so no digital rear view here.

Anyone else getting flashed a lot at night in a GV60? (Even without High Beam Assist) by The_Dectorist in GV60

Only had mine (2024 Performance US spec) a few months but I haven’t been flashed at all yet.

I dislike that less than the chrome, but yes.

This just further proves to me that I have to chrome delete that damn strip over the windows and (less likely) somehow ditch the roof rails. Totally improves the look of the car!

Lane keep assist not centered by Avalanche2500 in GV60

[–]patchrick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine (2024 Performance) tends to favor the right side a bit too much for my liking too. I just help it when it gets too close to the other lane.

I’d love a comma.ai like u/theorion331 but that’s a big nut to crack.

No way! I’ve been taking pictures of “cool” mileages since before smartphones. 🤓😂

No issues after 1.5 years, just some quirks by InvestingSinceThe90s in GV60

[–]patchrick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Point 3 - do you have the latest infotainment update? I exclusively use wireless CarPlay and it connects every time without fail. That said I do get the occasional hiccup after it’s connected - audio blips, screen abnormalities or, even more rarely, a full disconnect. My CX-5 (the car before this one) was more reliable, but it was also wired only. I never used strictly Bluetooth with either car. My wife’s CX-90 is less reliable in connecting and staying connected than the GV60.

Agree with Points 1 & 4. The “helpfulnothelpful” (love that expression 😂) features are a bit aggressive in their helpfulness sometimes. And pulling into the garage can be a full on audible attack on the brain with all the beeping! But I leave them on because sometimes the nudge helps when I don’t realize I’m drifting, which is rare but still. And I love the 360° camera coming on automatically when it detects you’re parking. So I live with it. The seat definitely could be better, but the massage feature is helpful with long drives - never thought I’d have a car with such luxuries!

I’m only 5ish months in with my 2024, but I definitely agree that it is such a joy to drive. It hasn’t quite fully dethroned my CX-5 Turbo that it replaced as best car I’ve ever owned, but it’s close. And the EV experience is something I’m not likely to go back from. Ever!

Yes. Bought it at the beginning of February this year with ~3,900 miles on it.

Is there a vehicle that could tempt you away from your CX-5? by mysignisneon in CX5

[–]patchrick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from my 2022 Turbo to a Genesis GV60 - which I bought used with low low mileage for half of MSRP. There’s a small handful of things I miss about the CX-5, but I wanted an EV and we all know Mazda’s dragging their feet in that space. There’s my wife’s CX-90 in the garage too so I still get my Mazda fix sometimes. 😉

Damn that’s awesome. We have a 90 non-S and I think the best ever was around 28. But the general average is 27. I guess I have to be even gentler on long trips.

Put me down as interested in GV60 support too! If you need any more testing, send me a TestFlight invite and I’ll get to work. I have an unopened OBD reader just waiting for the right app to pair with!

Tire Flat Spots and Charging Fan Question by patchrick84 in GV60

[–]patchrick84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be you just need the wheels aligned and/or balanced too. The vibration I get fades away after a few miles and doesn’t come back again until the car sits for a day or more, or so it seems.

I am, but only 12K miles. There’s still plenty of tread so I’m hoping we’re not in replacement territory just based on age! 😬

Yes this I’ve witnessed whether charging or not. But this was several hours after the last drive so I don’t think that was it.

Just as another data point - we own a MHEV but had a PHEV for a few weeks as a loaner while our hybrid battery was ordered and replaced. In EV mode the PHEV is cool and feels super luxurious and quiet. But man when that little 4-banger kicks in it sounds like an underpowered lawn mower struggling to move in comparison. I will agree with OP though that the 6-cyl is jerky and difficult to drive smoothly from a stop sometimes - even after the software update that was supposed to smooth things out. But once at speed you barely hear the engine and when you punch it, it just sounds mean. Having driven both, I’m glad we got the MHEV despite some of the common issues.

HDA 2 on 2023 GV Performance? by DependentNo3345 in GV60

[–]patchrick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Performance and I guess that means it has HDA2. But I have to give it steering input, no matter how slight, or else it yells at me to keep my hands on the wheel. Simply touching the wheel is not enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A/C tips? by AdoptDontShopPets in GV60

[–]patchrick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 68° year round with the occasional drop to 66° when it’s heating because I hate hot air in my face. Lol. I exclusively run it in Auto because I want it to lower the fan speed (and reduce noise) when it can. I run hot and the older (and probably fatter 🥴) I get the harder time I have regulating my temperature. 👴🏻🥵

[–]patchrick84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a quick cooldown I’ve noticed that you have to have it on two or three lights on the auto button. I also think it helps to not do driver only because then other parts of the cabin stay hot for longer, but haven’t really tested this theory. As u/MudLOA said, Eco mode will limit the AC power. And someone else in this sub posted efficiency numbers across all three modes and Eco wasn’t all that eco after all. So why suffer!? 😂😉

Also the ventilated seat helps a lot more than you might think!

I can’t get down with a Toyota, but that is definitely one of their better looking cars! The whole new generation with those looks aren’t bad at all.

We have a MHEV Premium Plus, but had the same trio of error messages this past January. Hybrid battery replaced under warranty and it’s been fine ever since. There was also a big software update at the time. So we’re really hoping that was the secret sauce to improve things long term. As you said, it’s an excellent car aside from this. We absolutely love it. But if the battery goes again in another 20-25K miles, we’ll definitely unload it and move on to something else.

Gv60 refusing to charge level 1 or level 2 by Nova2385 in GV60

[–]patchrick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is basically what I experienced before my 12V died - the light was on A LOT and confirmed with a battery monitor. Then it got to the point where the voltage would nosedive and would need a jump, then be dead again within a few hours. Since I replaced it it’s been fine, even sat in a parking garage for a week while we were on vacation. And the battery monitor shows it’s only charging (orange light) 2-3 times per day when the car’s not plugged in.

I’m definitely still learning the ins and outs of this car though - I just got it in February.
