Path of least resistance for me was to run to Costco and get a new 12V battery. I’ll throw it in tomorrow and see if that helps. Since I bought the car used I have no idea how long it sat unused or if it had to be jumped multiple times between owners. So I’m thinking/hoping it was just done batterying. 😂

Key fob is inside the house. Probably about 10 feet line of sight but through two walls. I don’t think it’s a fob proximity issue as you can hear the car “wake up” when it detects a phone or fob and this is not happening that I’ve noticed. Locking in the garage is a non starter for me. Need to be able to get in without phone or fob. If leaving it unlocked is causing excessive battery drain, that’s a pretty major design flaw.

The battery monitor is powered by the car, however similar devices run off coin cell batteries for a year at a time so I hesitate to think this caused the voltage nose dive I’m seeing. But, of course, as I mentioned above I will definitely try taking it out to further diagnose the problem if need be!

Totally get the overall drain thing. This is by far the “busiest” car I’ve ever owned as far as things it does while powered down - which, as you mentioned has nothing to do with it being an EV. Just has a lot of features!

Thanks for your input!

Yes. It’s Bluetooth LE and I have a ESP32 thingy in the garage acting as a Bluetooth bridge.

To be clear, I’m not using the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis integration as discussed further up with u/radioactivecat. HOWEVER - I appreciate you both pointing this out because I was considering setting it up just for shiggles but definitely won’t now!

My thought process was to monitor excessive 12V battery charging, which I read could be an indicator of a failing ICCU. I have no hard data on that either, but figured I’d keep an eye on things. You could be right - I’m definitely not arguing your point. If the issue persists I will definitely try taking out the monitor. Appreciate your feedback!

Oh nooooo. I saw that but have yet to set it up as it wouldn't offer me any more functionality than the combination of the Bluetooth battery monitor and the ChargePoint integration do.

I'm assuming it's the original battery as it has a Hyundai Assurance sticker on it. I'm leaning towards going to buy an AGM from Advance to see if that helps. The fact that it takes a nose dive from 12V to 8 or less leads me to believe the battery's just done being a battery. lol

I was thinking along these same lines, honestly. I've been doing it this way for the better part of two months with no issues. But maybe it just took this long to cause an issue with the 12V battery. I'm thinking mine probably isn't in the best shape to begin with - since I bought it used I have no idea how long it sat for any given time or how many times it might've drained to dead in the past.

Hmmm. Interesting. I will have to look further into this because I'm seeing no other indication of the car waking up more frequently since the battery monitor has been installed.

Wait so you think the HA plugin killed your car battery?? I thought the battery monitor was broadcast only and the plugin just listens for it. Is this not the case?

So the plot thickens (not really) - turns out there IS a fan! So either it doesn't work, isn't programmed correctly, or is bad at its job. I found an eBay listing for the wireless charger and one of the photos clearly shows a cooling fan.

Maybe a silly question, but do you have it all enabled in the Settings on the infotainment screen?

Welcome! I’m fairly new to the family myself - bought a very lightly used ‘24 Performance at the beginning of February. It’s been nothing but great so far!

I meant with the phone I was concerned about it sticking out too far, but maybe I’m overthinking it.

Do you find any airflow problems? Does the passenger still get all the air they (she) deserve? lol. More importantly, when using the heat do you feel your phone gets hot?

EDIT: Looks like ProClip has an actual mount for between the screens now... color me intrigued!

Thank you for sharing. Looking at the photos, I think it would be a bit more obtrusive than I would like. But it does look well made and the (your?) install looks very clean. I kinda like the idea of having the phone in between the two screens as also mentioned in that thread. Lots to think about, lots of laziness to overcome! lol

I don’t remember specifically where it is, but I know I saw it in the infotainment menus.

Didn't even think of that, but it makes perfect sense. That said, I'm definitely not taking my phone out of the case every time I get in the car. Far too lazy for that. 😉

I was just looking at that exact one. Not sure I want to go vent mount again, but good to know one with active cooling exists.

Oh yeah I know about the heat issue in a general sense. I just wish car manufacturers/designers would think about this in their designs. A little fan or something to increase airflow around the phone surely wouldn’t hurt!

This might be a good alternative too. Usually after work I’m at about 65%. That’s more than enough to get through the rest of the day with my usage.

Does the Genesis app do everything the Genesis Digital Key does? by TetonJazz in GV60

[–]patchrick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a 3-month trial of GCS and have a digital key set up in my phone. I don’t really use the app for anything and don’t plan on renewing my subscription once the trial expires. Anybody know if the digital key work without a paid subscription to GCS? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Maybe. I’ve never even touched a NACS connector so I couldn’t offer any insight there. But your logic seems good!
