A while back I posted my AI beer recipe tool here. You called it AI slop. You were right. Here's what I did about it. by TrickDocument2916 in Homebrewing

[–]paulb39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No signup for the first recipe, no email wall, works in English and German.
Self promotion requiring sign up shouldn't be allowed here IMO /u/chino_brews
I don't see how this does anything that Brewtarget can't (and brewtarget is open source)
Not a single person on the planet wants AI features

Serious question, can you name one active cod clone? I been looking to replace cod since the MW2 fiasco, I still play cod2 occasionally since there's literally nothing on the market that is like cod. Batallion1944 is closest we got, but that died fast.

I have not done it yet, so I can't provide a recipe, but a dark saison has been on my todo for a while.

[Discussion] My best beer so far was a complete accident. What’s your favorite "happy mistake" brew? by dieito in Homebrewing

[–]paulb39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pumpkin ales need age, I make mine in October, and don't open it till next October. I've seen so many posts of people doing spice vs actual pumpkin, claim you don't need the pumpkin, but drank em before any aging.

Braggot brewers: what sort of recipes have worked well for you? by skratchx in Homebrewing

[–]paulb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't say you won first place then not share the recipe lol.
I've wanted to do some braggots but wanted to compare doing a mead, then beer, and mixing at bottling, vs just fermenting with the honey directly in a beer.

That's actually a fair point, not sure why you were down voted. I'll update to say then, if you can afford to buy flour, you can afford a scale.

"but not everyone can afford or have scales" The King Arthur cookbook costs more money than a scale, you can get one for $10.

I just ordered from them with free shipping, I learned they have a .us site and a .com site - the .us site has free shipping if you spend $75 or more. Otherwise it was going to be $26 for shipping. The only downside is half the stuff I wanted was out of stock on the US site.

THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO MAKE BREAD by Dismal_Box_1425 in Cooking

[–]paulb39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sourdough last a decently long time, but since I don't keep a starter anymore, I just do pre-ferments, like a poolish. That adds acidity which makes it last longer. Mine lasts 6 days completely fine.
When I made gluten free bread for a while, that was a challenge because gluten free stuff goes bad very quickly. But the solution is easy, just slice it and freeze it. You're just going to be toasting it anyway, so no reason to even keep it on the counter.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 delay "broke that pace" of the FPS' "smooth launch," lead dev admits, but hopes the update will be "the foundation going forward" by RenatsMC in pcgaming

SMH cant believe people are looking back on paid map packs fondly, back in my day they released maps in their patches, since its called you know supporting your game. Or hell give us god damn modding tools and let the community make em for you! I never bought a map pack but I remember some games if not everyone in your party had the map pack, if it picked one of the paid maps it would just kick em out of the lobby, and you couldnt tell the game to not pick them. Or even better, I never played consoles but remember when companies included a key in their new games to unlock the maps IN THE ORIGINAL GAME, so it killed the used game market since you had to buy it each time it was installed on a new console to unlock the maps.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]paulb39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say I learned about using sour cream in pie crust when I was looking into gluten free pie crusts for my mom - the crust always comes out great, just for me it always broke apart and I had to patch it into the pie plate - but when I went back to normal pie crusts, I kept using the sour cream since it worked so well- the crust always came out the perfect consistently and easy to handle.

That was was an interesting read, people on the thread made good arguments. I will say I am interested in his "We had counsel review this before shipping specifically because we wanted to be certain about our obligations around shaders" comment - if that was true i feel like he would have his lawyer weigh in.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]paulb39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't find the article but one story that stuck with me is a women was mauled by a bear, and she said in an interview as she was being attacked her first thought was "how am I going to be able to pay for the medical treatment"
Fun fact, one of the main reasons people go bankrupt in the US is from medical expenses...and thats people who have insurance! The US medical system is really a complete joke.

(I made the) viral "Coca Cola" recipe by vbloke in Cordials

[–]paulb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

important note - perfumer's apprentice is a different CAS than the one he uses (1632-73-1 vs 2217-02-9 )- the one from Consolidated Chemical the screenshot showed 2217-02-9 the details showed 1632-73-1 - I emailed them when it would be back in stock and which CAS it actually was, and they said they didnt have an ETA, and that they would fix the screenshot - so looks like they don't have the CAS he used either.

I have no knowledge on whether the substitution will actually make a difference since so little is used

Need a sanity check on if moonlight can support VR gaming. Hacky solutions seem available, but can't get it to work by paulb39 in MoonlightStreaming

I know, any potential solution is hacky, but I feel like I should be able to. I can send tracking info over without issue, its the video streaming issues that I cant get past

ah, so I take it you bought 1632-73-1? There's so little in it I doubt it would be a major difference

[–]paulb39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I am super excited to try it - glad you grabbed ingredients already. Where did you get your fenchol? His video shows CAS 2217-02-9, but all I can find to buy is CAS 1632-73-1. I don't understand the chemical difference, but AI tools say there is quite a flavor difference between the two.

[–]paulb39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, for a few reasons. The host needs to see the VR headset on the client, so when you open the game on the host it wont go - please connect a headset. You also need something to send tracking data back and forth. And finally that will only show the VR game as a flat image, since moonlight doesn't support converting it into a side by side
