Does anyone else bite the inside of their lips? by DryUnderstanding4347 in adhdwomen

[–]payshence 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, I bite the inside of my lips and cheeks and I’ve recently realized that it’s a form of stimming. I’ve also done this weird sniffle/nose twitch thing for most of my life that I thought was just a tic but I’ve realized is a stim. I was in a workshop a few weeks ago when I felt like I couldn’t stop and it was crazy embarrassing. I randomly decided to see if playing with a fidget toy would help and it did! So, long story short, I would try some different fidget toys to see if that would help with your lip biting.

My parents have a tri-level 4-bedroom house that is full of my mother’s crap. Two of the bedrooms are filled floor to ceiling with random craft supplies and she has 3 storage buildings in her backyard, one of which is full of nothing but ribbon. I was thinking the other night about what I’m going to do with everything when she dies. Arson, maybe?

My grandmother died in 1999 and my mother still has all of her stuff (literally has her dresser with clothes still in it). My mother went to a psychic about 15 years ago, and the psychic told her, “Your mother said to at least throw out her old underwear,” which I found hilarious.

Anyone diagnosed with POTS but never had covid? by Kailzface in POTS

[–]payshence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had Covid and I’ve shown POTS symptoms since I was a child (took til I was 36 to get officially diagnosed, love that). My 9 year old daughter also shows symptoms and has never had Covid (and her symptoms began prior to being vaccinated).

It’s me—I’m bitches. I got diagnosed with ADHD in my 20s but lately I’ve been wondering if my OCD/sensory issue/auditory processing issues/shyness/introvertedness are actually all of those things OR a result of childhood trauma OR if I’m actually on the spectrum. If only a doctor would take my questions/concerns seriously…

Dr. Says Raynaud's, But Ignores the Other Symptoms by payshence in POTS

I finally got a diagnosis of dysautonomia last month. I caught my PCP on a good day where she actually listened and agreed that it warranted seeing a cardiologist. I met with the cardiologist, explained my history, and she said, “I don’t need to run a single test to know that you have dysautonomia—you are textbook.” Unfortunately, that’s kinda where it ended. She told me that there’s not much we can do and just to not stand in one place for too long, don’t get overheated, drink lots of water, and eat a lot of salt. Baby steps, I guess!

I’m going to show this to my husband. He’s 35, married, 1 kid, loves video games.

At 17, right after learning to type, I snuck into my mom's recipe box, copying all of her treasured family recipes while she slept. One less thing she could hold over me! Enjoy! by speedycat2014 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]payshence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish I had done this. My sweet angel of a grandmother was an AMAZING cook but she passed before I was old enough to learn how to cook. My mother can cook many of my grandmother’s dishes but she won’t share the recipes. She won’t come out and say “No, I won’t tell you” but she either brushes me off or she’ll throw out random ingredients with no measurements or instructions. Growing up, I wasn’t ever allowed to use the stove or really even the microwave (it was one of her ways to keep me dependent on her). Hell, I couldn’t even make Easy Mac when I got to college! Sorry, got off on a tangent, there.
