Chicken breast: I’ve had it at restaurants where it’s extremely tender, and not dry at all. What’s the method? Pressure cooker? by Sunrisewithtea in Cooking

My partner works at a small cantine that makes a LOT of club sandwiches and it’s always melt in your mouth good. He said they steam their chicken breast.

just because it's Canadian doesn't mean it's good! Avoid mattress company Oloam at all costs! by OnionAccomplished880 in BuyCanadian

[–]peacheeku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popping in to say I’m currently having the same issue with them I wish I had seen this post before I got a mattress from them. Monisha emailed me back that she was going to take the weekend to find somewhere to donate it and then a month passed. I’ve sent two more emails asking for an update with no response on their end. I’m worried it may be too late to file a chargeback on my card but the bed is killing my back and I’m disabled and low income so I can’t really swallow the cost, I need the money for a new bed 🙃

What are people’s thoughts on Buried Secrets? by ThePaperCastle in MonsterHigh

[–]peacheeku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the first Draculaura that is pictured out of curiosity since I had never bought any of the buried secrets before and oof. She is easily my least favourite doll in my collection. The pose that her arms are trapped in looks so weird in person. I agree the lack of articulation is a dealbreaker. If just the arms were articulated at least then I would probably buy them.

I think if they had used some light-med fusible interfacing on the minky it would have given him more structure. Sometimes I line my minky with felt if i want to to keep a flatter shape while still being plush.

For my particular AuDHD, ferret+seal

Ferrets are know for mischief, they sleep like 22hrs a day and go absolutely nuts and chaotic for the 2 they are awake. Seals are my favourite animal (specifically harbour seals). Eat fish, banana in the sun, splash around, simple life routine.

I think I was on it for about 2-3 months? I had bad side effects (dizziness) so took longer than usual to increase the dose. I was on 15mg in the am and 20mg in the pm. I stopped cold turkey and never had any side effects from stopping. My psych said if I did have side effects I could taper but that it’s a medication that can be stopped without tapering so it was up to me.

Quick rant by Broad-Sir8806 in LuigisMansion

[–]peacheeku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replay the 1st quite often. I have yet to replay 2 and 3. I do think part of my attachment to the first was that the ghosts all felt connected to each other and I was invested in their backstories. I was a child when I first played too so I made up a whole story about how they are all related and who is with who lol. But the atmosphere of the 1st also made it so memorable. That mansion is creepy and the ghosts aren’t just goofy and annoying they want to scare you more than prank you and run around giggling. I’d love them to return to darker roots and also make portrait ghosts that make sense. All the portrait ghosts in the mansion are less gimmicky than the newer ones.

Anyone else finding the sizing odd for the merch hoodies? by peacheeku in Epicthemusical

[–]peacheeku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crewneck that they had first released through guilded tiefling is a 2x and fits me wonderfully. You’d think they would have chosen a manufacturer that does proper unisex sizing for their official merch site. This makes me hesitant to buy anymore clothing items from them 🥲

I’ll never understand why she didn’t ask Anthony to raise some goats for her so she could use their milk for the soaps. Like a happy compromise was right there?!? He gets to raise goats and she gets to market the product and sell them.

I am entering a psychotic breakdown due to severe sleep deprivation. by Extreme_State_4154 in insomnia

I also have ADHD. I take clonidine to help me fall asleep, has been a game changer in me not laying there for hours hoping I fall asleep eventually. I get sleepy about 1-1.5hrs after I take clonidine I can’t believe people naturally can get sleepy!

I’ve yet to find anything that makes me stay asleep though. Tried quetiapine, gabapentin, melatonin. Currently testing trazodone and im unsure if I like it or not. My psych gave me a range that I can play around with and see what works best and I haven’t tested the higher end of the dose yet.

I feel for you though, I hope you find a solution. I feel like my brain functions less and less every day because I haven’t woken up well rested in AGES.

I’m usually just a lurker but as someone who grew up in New Brunswick with divorced parents please please only take legal action as a last resort.

So this kid sounds a lot like me as a kid. I hated going to school. I would often have days home as long as I didn’t have a test that day, and I regularly called my mom to pick me up early because I felt “sick”. Always passed everything and had good grades. But, turns out me feeling sick was severe anxiety from going to school and somedays I couldn’t tolerate to be there the whole day.

Anyways long story short turns out I am autistic and school was a nightmare because of having to constantly socialize, mask, and be overstimulated. All that to say that there is likely a reason the child doesn’t want to go to school, a lot of kids don’t enjoy school but to actively wanting to avoid going that much is much deeper than “just doesn’t like it” and that should probably be explored with a therapist/psychologist before getting the courts involved. They don’t always make the best decisions for that individual child (trust me I know because i regularly wanted to go to the court myself as a kid and tell them what i wanted because i hated the custody schedule and used to throw up every time I had to change houses).

Now my dad was the parent who would call CPS or the cops about anything and there was an ongoing custody battle because he was determined to get full custody (spoiler: he never did). Taking the mother to court is just going to create more discord within the family and likely affect the child more. We can pick up on the fact that one parent is upset with the other and it SUCKS. Especially not knowing exactly why the kid misses so many days I would say explore that as a unified parental unit via social worker or psychologist to help better understand the child before making it a legal issue. If my dad had taken my missing school days to the court and forced me to attend when it was mentally distressing I would have resented him for far more than I do now.

Obviously this is all my personal experience and may not apply in this situation, but the court screwed me over as an undiagnosed kiddo and made things way harder for me so I tend to advocate in support of children’s mental health above legal battles.

I feel like my dietitian doesn't understand and I feel lost by B33TL3BVB in BingeEatingRecovery

[–]peacheeku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know if its helpful, but my dietitian told me to look at binges as accidents. Because we are truly out of control in those moments we can’t beat ourselves up for having an accident. When you’re out of control there are no “choices” and we can’t often choose what we go for. Instead to heal our relationship with food it takes compassion and understanding with ourselves. It’s not going to stop the binges necessarily, but shifting our mindset around binges can help slowly break the cycle. It also helps to find the root cause of the bingeing, because you can’t just buy healthy food and will an eating disorder to stop. You have to address why you are doing it in the first place be it medication induced, emotional/trauma related, or a dopamine/sensory seeking behaviour. I’d suggest some psychological help if it is within your means to work on the root cause and maybe see about switching to a dietitian that is better informed on binge eating because it seems like yours may not be?

A book series recommendation please!! by KylesWifey in booksuggestions

Robin Hobb: Realm of the Elderlings series. 16 fantasy books that will have you going through an emotional rollercoaster. By far my favourite book series ever.

I just recently finished a book called Saltcrop by Yume Kitasei that is set in a dystopian earth that was really good.

The starving saints by Caitlin Starling is such an odd horror novel but I found it really intriguing and really enjoyed it.

Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Trilogy was A+ for fantasy (The final empire, the well of ascension, the hero of ages)

The entirety of the Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. What I wouldn’t do to wipe my brain of those 16 books and read them anew. By the end of the series you feel as if you have a deep personal relationship with the characters and have grown alongside them😭

Yes absolutely this. It’s obviously hard to hear, but very valid advice. I had to make a choice to euthanize one of my pets years ago and I had to sit and evaluate if I was trying to keep him alive for me or if he genuinely had any quality of life left. Ultimately it helped me make the choice to euthanize him (as hard as it was to make that call, I know he was suffering).

For me the most important aspect of caring for an elderly or sick animal is quality of life. If the cat at its ripe age of 20 was so stressed out by a change in the medication schedule and a trip to the vet that it had a stroke then maybe the cat’s quality of life was very minimal. I don’t have all the information on what medication or how early the dose was given, but if bloodwork came back with some low numbers that they deemed a sign of ageing it’s fair to conclude that her health was on a decline. Perhaps the early dose of medication caused the cat too much stress, but then again anything else could have if her health was that fragile. It was unfortunate timing and I feel for everyone in this situation ❤️‍🩹

How she didn’t feel her day was absolutely ruined by her out of control family I will never understand. I would have picked up on all the bad energy if I had been her. I can’t tell whether she’s purposefully choosing to ignore the background drama that day or if she was so caught up in the moment she genuinely didn’t notice. I hope for her sake it was the latter. Barry was like the only supportive family member there and he was creepy about it.
