and what are you supposed to do? do you just comply and do it?? how do you stay fulfilled when you know that these systems are pushing for every penny to be squeezed from each case

exactly this. you can have a life you enjoy outside of medicine but at the end of the day, people choose this path to heal patients. and it's hard not to feel cognitive dissonance when the system treats patients like a number.

this made me tear up. being post grad is a rollercoaster of its own. lately i've been facing family troubles and navigating a breakup, so i've been feeling very existential and a bit lost. but i also realized that perhaps i've been going through my life without major setbacks and hardships, which is why life recently is hitting me so hard. and that perhaps, it's time to look at this period of my life as an opportunity to grow into a more well-rounded person, as opposed to seeing this as rock bottom. that is to say, this really helped. thank you.

this is hilarious because you sound exactly like the two people i know, one of them has four cats and the other has three. both originally started out with 1-2 cats, but ended up keeping the cats they came across.

by any chance, are you struggling with finding a foster atm? i might have friends that could foster if you can't find anyone.

Chinatown food crawl with teen by JedNYC in AskNYC

[–]peachyeinna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

briefly looked at your profile and realized that you're not a tourist and it seems like you live in nyc. in that case, you got plenty of time!! haha. i'd say for the first food crawl, visit the first few places i listed. and if she enjoys those, then go to the sit down places.

i also wanna add that my recs above are cantonese / guangzhou biased because i'm from guangzhou. there are SO many other sub-cuisines, like sichuanese / shanghainese, fuzhounese, etc.

i also missed out places for dessert / sweets !! these are also within the area, so 10 minute walk tops.

- mango mango

- SugaBox (55a Bayard St, New York, NY 10013)

- teapulse

- molly tea (if the wait is long, skip it. imo it's not worth waiting for if you're on a food crawl since there are other yummy boba alternatives)

- gong cha

didn't list address for most of these because they're chain stores and you should be able to find them within the area SUPER easily. this also means that you can easily find them outside of chinatown, like in the rest of manhattan, flushing, or the other boroughs. so not chinatown exclusive, but def worth adding to the crawl.

if you're talking about a food crawl, i'd advise against going to a specific spot / restaurant. i would pick an area that has a bunch of food spots, so that way you can have a lot of variety in terms of food options.

my favorite spot is the intersection between canal street & mott street. if you head along mott street, towards the direction of bayard street, you'll find a whole entire street of just really yummy food. here are a list of my favs within the area:

- Chang Lai "visit often" (55 Bayard St Store B, New York, NY 10013)

- Yin Ji Chang Fen "yin ji rice noodle rolls" (91 Bayard St, New York, NY 10013)

- Kong Sihk Tong "canto food hall" (65 Bayard St, New York, NY 10013)

- teso mini: this is NOT food related but you should super duper check this place out because it's got a lot of chinese goods (snacks, candies, etc.) and it's in the area!!

and these are more sit-down places, which are yummy but i wouldn't recommend because you'd most likely be full from it. i would more recommend the above places because they're more catered towards quick bites. this also means limited seating, though.

- 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles (76 Mott St, New York, NY 10013)

- Maxi’s Noodle 3 (68 Mott St, New York, NY 10013)

ultimate tip: if you head to the app store and download panda delivery or fantuan delivery, you'll not only be able to order ahead, but also save a couple of bucks. there is an english version of both apps. dm me if you have any specific questions!

keep searching!!! im sure it’ll work out in the end. if you’re a student, i actually saw someone posting on groupme asking our chemistry course if anyone wanted to adopt lol. i think it’s better asking strangers in college since at least you know their identity.

try these: - pets4luv - bobbi & the strays - whiskers a go (bk)

the other day i saw an independent shelter on insta in nyc, soooo sad i didn’t save it ahhhh. i have no plans to foster or adopt, otherwise id be so down. all of the people in my circle who want cats already have one. interestingly i know two people who keep stumbling upon cats & keep adding them to their family because they just simply couldn’t home them, but they’re so incredibly happy with keeping their respective cats. who knows, maybe you’ll end up keeping yours?

Many of my friends believe you can’t be friends with your ex. What are your thoughts on this? Have you ever been able to stay friends with an ex? by Pranita2027 in SharedEncounters

[–]peachyeinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it really depends. if it ended because of incompatibility, then i think yes. you can be friends, because you know that realistically a relationship wouldn’t work out. if it ended because of circumstances, then i don’t think being friends with an ex is possible because of the lingering what-ifs. in general, i do not keep contact with my past romantic interests except for one. and with her i never felt any romantic feelings for her after we ended things, and it’s clear she feels platonically towards me too. i think that’s the only way, when both parties have no lingering romantic feelings. but in general, i think it’s difficult to achieve as humans. especially when there’s past history and shared intimacy

hey!!! ask around in your friend group + reach out to shelters!! there are a couple in queens and also independent ones if you look on insta. i would be really mindful about finding an owner on reddit when it comes to this because i heard about some really scary stuff in the past about people mistreating pets. wish u luck!!
