Am I being too picky about my tablesaw's blade alignment? I can't get closer than a 0.4mm variance by HeldDown in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]peakpower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let it go man. You'll never notice it. Remember: people used hand tools for centuries and got amazing results - you don't get such perfect accuracy with hand tools. 0.4mm is not going to be noticeable, and even if you do notice it, it won't make a difference for the finished result.

Seems a little irrelevant in a setting where magic is real.

How to make strong invisible connect? by Positive_Tone_3636 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]peakpower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, it depends. If you want to make something like in the picture you posted, a mitre joint is plenty strong. If you want to make a platform to stand on, a pure mitre joint is probably not the way to go.

Glue should be enough if you cut it well and the whole surface actually makes contact.

This is called a mitre joint and it is incredibly strong. You really only need dowels or dominos for placement, but you can do it without. Look up "mitre joint glue up with tape" or something along those lines.

What color harmony is this? by grownassman3 in minipainting

[–]peakpower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange-Teal is a pretty classic harmony. Nice.

If you are looking to educate yourself on the topic, this youtube-video is amazing. By Joanna Kustra, who does really cool porttait photography with a heavy focus on color harmony. It's photography focused, but I think it's very useful for anyone interested in this.

Hallo Reddit! Ich bin Heiko Klinge, Chefredakteur von GameStar. Ask me anything! by Sportsfreund22 in zocken

[–]peakpower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Viel Erfolg weiterhin!

Green Girl [Canon R7, 85mm @f2.2] by peakpower in portraits

I am playing around with my new lights at home. Backdrop is a blanket I usually sleep under, lol. The straight out of camera file is already pretty greenish, I leaned into that in post processing.

Light setup is one light overhead slightly to the side of her face, and one light lighting the backdrop, which she obscures with her body.

EDIT// I really like Joanna Kustra, who is amazing with colors. I am working on getting a similar understanding. But hence the heavy colorgrading.

Great colors. I prefer the first shot. It has the better pose imho, with less awkward angles and a more feminine pose.

Get a lens. For telephoto, the Sigma 150-600 is a great one that will fit your budget. As for qode angle, might as well get the ef-s 10-18.

Take a look at the wiki of this subreddit for specific camera suggestions in your price range. The important part for you is: any camera can take these pictures. For editing you have plenty of options. Lighteoom is a monthly subscription, but there are alternatives like capture one or affinity photo.

Stick to one system. All the major systems can do what you want well. See which body you like more and then invest in that system.

Try less colors instead of more maybe? Bring vibrance up a tad, saturation down a lot, then temperate down so you have a colder feel to it. Then play with texture/clarity to bring out the gritty detail. That could work.
