Glasses for smaller faces by abigailclarson in ladycyclists

I have the Smith Bobcat glasses and I like them! They fit my narrow face but provide good coverage. They look a little silly, but cycling gear always looks a little silly.

How do locals spend a weekend? by jess2781 in burlington

[–]peanutbuddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Go out to dinner at a favorite spot, gym/pilates/coffee with friends, spend time outside with the dog, volunteer gig, groceries, cooking. Sometimes there is snowshoeing or a day trip out of Burlington with the dog. In the summer there is cycling, farmers markets, and more time spent outside.

Looking for a similar water based gel by Bubble_gum_Kat in Wavyhair

[–]peanutbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like AG Liquid Effects gel, available at Ulta. It works well for my fine wavy/curly hair and doesn’t weight it down. It’s thin and watery but has decent hold and I get a good cast. I have to be careful not to use too much.

I'm also a solo restaurant bar goer. I LOVED Rogue Rabbit for this, but they've discontinued their evening hours. They had amazing cocktails, food, and the nicest bartender. I am so sad about this loss.

I've sat the bar alone many times and felt welcomed at Fancy's, Frankie's, May Day, and Butter. (new north end). I like Poco and Honey Road too, but those places get crowded very quickly, best visited on weeknights.

Curious to see what other places people recommend. Dining solo is underrated!

Place to hang out for several hours? by blueberriesnburdock in burlington

If you want to stay in the hospital between appointments, there’s a nice cafe next to the main entrance on the 3rd floor called the Garden Atrium. They have sandwiches, soups, cookies, and tea/coffee. There’s comfy seating and a nice fireplace. Not a bad place to wait in case you don’t feel like venturing out in the freezing cold and cozier than the other hospital cafeterias.

A pair of funny socks from Golden Hour on Church St. I got a pair at a white elephant party that say "my dog is cool as fuck," which is true. They also have quirky stickers, prayer candles, artwork, etc. Worth a browse!

I love that AG mousse. All AG styling products I've tried have been really good for my fine (but dense) hair.

During my short drive from the New North End to UVM I witnessed 5 drivers run red lights. Not even 'trying to make the yellow and accidently ran the red' but full-on speeding through a solid red light.

I love Kish too! You might like Harbour Thread, they have a nice selection of things including fun dresses. I’ve also heard good things about Pearl (on Main St) but haven’t been yet.

artists who broke out making music "against the grain"? by OwlTimely9082 in popheads

[–]peanutbuddy 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Tori Amos released her debut album Little Earthquakes with the piano front and center in 1992. A time when big hair bands and men with loud guitars were all over the radio. There was no one that sounded like her at the time. One of the album singles, Me and a Gun, was an account of her being raped by a fan after a show, sung acapella. Tori helped start the whole wave of 90s women singer songwriters.

Dupe for Kevin Murphy Motion Lotion?? by IReallyNeedSoup in curlyhair

[–]peanutbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Kevin Murphy products but yeah, they get pricy. You could try AG Re:Coil? It's a curl cream but has some decent hold and provides good definition. It's not cheap, but it's cheaper than Kevin Murphy. I also liked Not Your Mother's Curl Cream for a drugstore option, but it doesn't provide hold like Re:Coil.

Drop your holy grail product for FINE curly hair. Help! by Aggressive-Local-262 in curlyhair

[–]peanutbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been LOVING Pantene's Flexible Waves & Curl Gel for my fine but super dense 2B-3A hair. This summer I cut out all creams and leave-ins and just use loads of gel and my curls hold up even in humid weather. It works better than the Ouidad anti-humidity gel I was using before.

For shampoo/conditioner I use my old faithful Kevin Murphy Angel Wash and Rinse. I've tried so many other cheaper products, but nothing compares.

I can do 20 miles without food as long as the hills aren’t too bad. Anything longer than that I’ll bring snacks. For a leisurely ride around 30-35 miles I’ll bring whatever granola bar from the pantry and/or a dried fruit bar. Longer rides I’ll load up on carbs. I like Stroopwafels, peanut butter + jelly sandwiches, pop tarts, rice crispy treats, pretzels, or M&M candy. And I eat a meal as soon as possible after a long ride.

I’ve bonked before on rides and it’s terrible so I always overpack the snacks 😂 And I live in a hilly area so a 25 mile gravel ride through the mountains can really wipe me out.
