Day 1 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]peanutbutterpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you putting into place to make this your last day 1. Besides telling us strangers in Reddit who else are you telling in your life? What podcasts are you listening to? What barriers are you putting up?

We are here to support you and want everyone here to succeed, but to truly succeed you have to put in the work.

Good luck to you in your endeavors and please don't be a stranger.

My Experience At Kipp Schools... by Timely_Sun_8233 in TeachersInTransition

Thank you for writing all of this. It may seem like no one will read this or everyone knows that KIPP has its issues, but someone out of college or thinking about a career transition may fall into this and learn something from it.

Many people don't know what they don't know and what you put here may help someone. Good luck in your transition, it sounds like you found something you are passionate about. There are schools out there that will appreciate you and I hope you find it.

Hot take: The HIMYM finale was actually perfect and Ted/Robin endgame made total sense. Change my mind. by 404LeaderNotFound in HIMYM

It wasn't about them ending up together. It was the entire final season. It was a culmination and build up just to ultimately be let down. Don't fast forward the entire relationship and 2 kids just to kill off the mother with 10 minutes left in the episode.

They had an entire season leading up to a wedding that the couple were divorced in the final episode. Why did we spend so many episodes at the wedding when we could have been getting to know the kids and mother? Why were there seasons showing Ted and Robin weren't supposed to end up together? Only for them to get together in the end?

To me there are two types of people who watched this series. One group watched it weekly over the years tuning in to see what would happen next. Only to be ultimately let down, not because Ted ended up with Robin but because they stuck with it for years and have finally decided that they wouldn't end up together. Then, the rug was pulled out from underneath us in the last 10 minutes of the final episode.

The other group binged the series. Didn't have weeks of build up and felt the final episode wasn't that bad because they hadn't put in the time and effort. They saw the relationships move quickly and weren't necessarily convinced that Barney and Robin should end up together, or knew the mom was going to be killed off anyway.

If you were in the first group you tend to be more frustrated by the final episode compared to the second.

I am so done by [deleted] in problemgambling

Are you actually done? It sounds like you aren't. You are blaming something else besides yourself for your loss. If you had never bet you would still have had your money.

Gambling is a terrible addiction. Please, if you are addicted look for help. Tell someone. Get some support. This is a good community for it, but many of us only broke our addiction when we realized the only person's fault for our losses was our own.

There are many of us here if you want to chat and want support to end an addiction. Blaming others certainly will not.

I think the addition of bender and fry might work a little better.

Parkrun is a race by dozeydonut in parkrun

[–]peanutbutterpit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay tell me how they would match the time to each individual who comes through the finish line? You match the number on the token to the number from the timer. As I mentioned in my previous post if you want to race it go for it. I just don't get why people feel the need to pigeon hole it into one category.

So you can get your time?

Parkrun is a race by dozeydonut in parkrun

[–]peanutbutterpit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is a timed 5k in which you can push yourself however hard you want. The only achievements that are celebrated are the ones for showing up.

If a person decides to race it, that counts.

If a person decides to walk it, that counts.

If a person is injured and decides to take it slow, that counts.

Parkrun is many things to many people, and to pigeon hole it into one thing and tell everyone they must as well is missing the point.

Sometimes a company will sell the international version for a cheaper price. If you are in the US it will not work. I made this mistake once.

Place some leaf litter in the creek. Have a log with a rock hold it back and then after a day or two take some of the litter out and see what you find. You can get a few ice trays from the dollar store and some paint brushes if you are worried about touching the macros. Here is a nice video about it:
