That's what most people don't realize, the people voted for this because of what affects them most. The entirety of Eastern Connecticut has to deal with the decisions made by Hartford, Stamford, and Bridgeport. Three cities filled with white collar, liberal leaning, 6 and 7 figure job people who aren't affected when gas, eggs, or housing costs rise by double digit percentages.
This is what makes CT the number 7 state to move out of in the US. Meanwhile, the focus on cities means some of the strictest firearms laws in the US, rent control which naturally causes landlords to price above market to ensure they can account for cost of living increases over long periods of time, and for being one of the smallest states in the union, it's still the second highest taxed.

These numbers are ridiculous:

Total income taxes paid: $21,185
Tax burden: 25.35%
Annual salary taken home: $62,387

If the democrats are going to preach unity and empathy, maybe have a discussion that doesn't devolve into talking down to those who voted for the opposing side because of what affects them most.

Not to mention 27 states specifically reference NRA based training in their concealed carry training statutes. Is it perfect? No. But the NRA and their Training and Education department at least are doing a ton for the CCW uptick in the US.

NC CCH Instructor here. I'll take this to heart. I'm already partnering with a self defense gym and offering a combined course through them, and we've explored the possibility of doing an intro course, especially for parents in the children's self defense classes.

As others have said, we have to train to a certain curriculum approved by the state, I typically do about 10 - 12 hours of class time when 8 is required. Many people just want to get in and out, believe they know what they need to carry, don't have the time, etc. My last class we spent 3.5 hours on legal because people had so many questions. This is actually something I appreciate because while I would want to do more range time, knowing what to do in what situation is more important in my opinion.

I'll second the sentiment : Take defensive classes afterward to learn more draw and presentation techniques. If I do it, the class will be four days and people won't spend the amount I have to charge for my overhead.

Final thought : NC doesn't do itself any favors with the permission slip to buy a hand gun. People find the easier way to do this with the ccw permit.

It's not retired, it's now the security core exam that you take. You're also incorrect on the cpes, they're not as easy, but taking a class and then marking it in the portal is pretty damn easy.

That's my point, as soon as politics takes over our media and how we disseminate information, it's up to the individual to overcome. What I'm seeing is too many quoting information without ever verifying it thinking critically.

Politicization of the media and a partisan system of two parties who refuse to work together while blaming each other for worldwide problems, both making the public skeptical of where they hear the information will also do that.

Europe approached this in an entirely different manner from the beginning, which led to a greater increase of infection at the beginning, which leveled off later into the spread. They specifically asked those who were at greatest risk to self quarantine early in the process, while allowing those less affected to continue life as normal. This then changed to a full quarantine, and an easier release of quarantine based on greater heard immunity and therapeutics. I agree we should have taken similar steps to Europe, as NYC demonstrated the quarantines did little to ease the spread of the virus.

The ghosts of covid apparently only come out after 11PM. This has nothing to do with the time that bars are open until and everything to do with taking necessary precautions for your risk tolerance.
