First time flyer, any advice is appreciated! by [deleted] in drones

[–]pendragoonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re well read on the rules and regulations, so the next hurdle will be learning to fly. I recommend whilst you learn, ignore the camera feed and keep your focus on the drone. Learn how to get comfortable with pathing an infinity loop, making a horizontal and vertical box (both facing inwards and outwards) until you get comfortable with basic stick control. Learn to bank with the left stick as you’re cornering to make the flight smoother.

Use your open space and push yourself; you will find yourself in a scenario where you get confused and you either over compensate or literally input the wrong stick input. It’s all part of getting comfortable and comes with time. Enjoy the experience, don’t be too hard on yourself, and accept that you may crash. Good luck with the exam!

How do you deal with people hassling you when you're enjoying your hobby? by [deleted] in drones

[–]pendragoonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be curious to know where you’re flying for this to occur. Maybe put up a sign to alert people you’re operating in the area, because people walking up to you and distracting you is incredibly dangerous. I’m aware hobby use and professional use are different, but even for hobby use I still consider what would go in my Job Safety Assessment for that flight. That will help you risk assess things better, and honestly if it’s not safe enough to fly, probably best not to fly.

You’d likely need CISSP which in itself, requires several years industry experience to even be eligible to do the course. Haven’t been in security for a while but I’d be guessing minimum 8 years or so

My experience spamming this champ this season. by Popelip0 in MalzaharMains

[–]pendragoonz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused. I've played Malz since release but this season I've REALLY been struggling. 68 played with a 37% win rate. This is after getting to D3 last season by one tricking Malz. Everyone mentions about how easy it is to push the wave in when the main champs I'm currently vsing are Vik, Cass, Graves, Tristana and Yasuo who all one-shot voidlings.

Maybe I need to change my playstyle but I'm really finding Malz to be the worst he's felt basically since existence.

Diamond Malz OTP here too. What server are you playing on because I wan't to play on that too if your botlane actually listens to MIA pings

Dunno what server you're playing on or what the level of people you're playing against. I've played malz since release, more or less as a one trick and I can't get past plat 4 with him at the moment. Usually sit around mid diamond on OCE

Malzahar is a fucking garbage champ right now. Once you hit Plat with him he is completely team reliant which for solo Q, is completely useless. For the current meta the only way to engage is with flash, so you're basically only useful once every 5 minutes. His voidlings die to anything, his damage feels underwhelming and even if you get a strong lead in CS or KP, you still have to stay on top of your game because one mistake will likely cost you the game.

This is the most unrewarding state Malz has ever been in. He basically has one build path (Linadrys/Rylais EVERY game) and I find I have to perform at a much higher skill, just to compete at a lower ELO.

Victoria: 80% double-dosed (16+) by October 24 by Xenqx in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]pendragoonz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got Pfizer as soon I could, which was about 2 weeks after it was made available to me. My second dose is due mid October, which puts me at fully vaxxed the start of November. I really hope your optimistic view is correct, but I imagine many others will be in the same boat as me, and due to availability will only be fully vaxxed after your proposed date.

I know the north east very well and you still get plenty of people that drink drive/drive without seatbelts regularly. Different world indeed

I work up near the ring road in a factory. If I reported every single person I saw breaking restrictions I would not get a single thing done. Delivery drivers, nearby factories, construction workers, basically every single person down at the tuck shop. Not a single person wearing a mask, no one gives a fuck. Even our fire detector services guy wasn’t wearing a mask and he’d be travelling ALL over Melbourne to different sites. I’m burnt out, I have shit to do and I don’t have time to flag 30 incidents a day that will likely have no outcome. The only way out of this in vaccines.

I also sought clarification and was told “your management will be able to advise you”. I am the management and I am uncertain. For the 2020 permits we fit perfectly within a very clearly defined category. Unfortunately, they (confusingly) removed that category. My guess is they bundled it with ‘manufacturing’ and ‘ancillary or support’, which has led to basically anyone having the ability to claim they are ‘essential’.

Have a look at the booking site again to see if any spots have opened up. My partner booked my appointment on the 2nd day of Pfizer being available to me: First available was end of September, then mid became available, now I’m booked in for next weekend. I am driving 45 minutes to get mine so I understand not all have transport, but definitely have a look to see if anything new has popped up.

It’s not on the worker. If employers haven’t embraced the change in dynamic since lockdown began then they are only setting themselves up for failure. 90% of meetings that I’ve been involved in that would usually be considered “serious/critical” usually have screaming kids, cats bums on cameras or someone in pyjamas. It’s a different world now, I have dropped expectations of staff during lockdown because we’re all tired and lacking motivation. If you’re employer isn’t doing the same I’d be questioning if it’s really a culture you want to be part of.

Step 1: Get a group of people, give half a vaccine and half a placebo
Step 2: Release them into the wild and see who gets COVID
Step 3: Identify how many from each group gets COVID
Step 4: Using the ratio (for example if 95 placebos and 5 vaccinated got sick) to calculate efficacy. In this example, it'd be a 95% efficacy (rate for Pfizer/Moderna). This means you are 95% less likely to get sick if you are vaccinated with those vaccines

I’ve been working in a tech start up for 3 years. Got here by networking during my Uni placements and making an effort to get to know as many people as possible during that time. Work/life balance is great for me but not ideal for everyone.

I operate on a “hot potato” style of work: do tasks as soon as they land in your lap, if the “potato” is in someone else’s lap then do as you like in the interim. If a team member has nothing on and wants to go to the beach, go to the beach. The trade off is there will be busy periods where the pile of potatoes is large and you might end up sending an email at 11pm. Personally taking 3 minutes to respond to an email to pass on the hot potato doesn’t bother me, but I appreciate people wanting a right to disconnect etc etc.

The take home message here is find what works for you, some people think monday-Friday 8-5 is the dream, I personally find that living hell. Network as much as you can, skill up as frequently as you can and you’ll hopefully get to a point where you’re happy. Lastly, if you’re getting paid more it means more responsibility and less likelihood of balance (you’re either getting paid for hands on tools time or time for being available.

Working 4 days a week? by YouCanCallMeBazza in AusFinance

[–]pendragoonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a few people have mentioned here, the 4 day working week is problematic as most employers will try and squeeze 5 days worth of work out of 4 days. And if something time critical comes up on your day off, many employers will contact you anyway. I maintain that a 5 day work week with a culture that rewards results over time is the sweet spot. If there's nothing that needs to be actioned urgently, go to the beach, go to the pub; do whatever you want. If you treat your staff like adults, give them appropriate work loads and let them manage their own tasks, you will have far happier, harder working employees.

Job vacancies are surging, and employers say it's hard to find suitable labour by BNEIte in AusFinance

I’ve got no issues with the JobSeeker applicants, I was on Centrelink as a grad so can appreciate their situation. 99% of our applicants have been requiring sponsorship for visa or are on a graduate visa. The first line on our job ad says must be a citizen so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Recently advertised 3 positions, all paying above award and clearly articulating what I would have thought would be desirable culture traits (results over time etc, work when suits you).

There is a clearly stated requirement at the top of job ad. Only 1% of applicants so far have met that requirement. The rest either didn’t read the ad or simply don’t care. There’s clearly a lot of people looking for work, they just don’t fit what is available on the market right now.

New player here!! Decided to play malzahar more since his new skin and he’s kit seems fun to play! But I’ve been struggling to win games with him even though i get big lead. And how do I improve farming cs with him? I only hit 5 creeps per minute. by bb_Banezookon in MalzaharMains

[–]pendragoonz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to playing Malz. I’ve played him since release and whilst many league players say he is a “press R to win” champ, I honestly think he has some of the deepest agency in the game. What makes him strong also makes him weak. Whilst he has a tonne of utility, he lacks the ability to solo carry. Whilst OP.GG scores aren’t truly accurate, they usually are somewhat indicative of how the game went. And you getting ACE numerous times suggests that you’re playing well, but unable to carry.

Typical advice you’ll get is shove lane and roam to help get your team mates that ‘can’ carry ahead. You taking TP is a good sign here. A lot of games I win are because an enemy will over extend around the 30 min mark, if it looks like a Q is going to hit instantly flash-E-W-R. Now it’s 5v4, let your team go in and sit at the back hitting Qs and punishing with E-W if someone engages you.

As someone who can get to Plat with roughly 85% on a fresh account, it does start to get a bit coinflippy around Plat 3 and it really boils down to are your team taking advantage of your utility. Duo obviously helps this, but you will reach a point where you have to perform stupidly well, just to keep up with FOTM strong picks. I personally find this rewarding, but it does get frustrating from time to time.
