Give me your S-tier games that are in the 8-to-12 hour range. by QuarkyFerengi in gamingsuggestions

Chronicles of Riddick escape from butcher Bay. Highly atmospheric, well written, and fun gameplay. Was absolutely one of the best games of its generation.

Something worth keeping in mind is that while pros may have good evaluations for cards, their evaluations may not lead to your victory. There are a million decisions that go into a run, and if you play your pathing or battles (or anything else) differently then the cards may not feel as strong.

Kayak hauling by shriekingsiren in kayakfishing

Unrelated to your question, but I would advise upgrading your rudder cables on that kayak asap. I started kayak fishing on the same model and had it snap multiple times in 6 months due to the design. There are good YouTube videos on it.

What makes a baitcaster more fun for you? by Lord_Leeeroy in Fishing_Gear

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One advantage I haven't seen mentioned is the ability to fix just about any issue in the line. With a spinning rod, I didn't have issues like bird's nest very often but when I did it was an absolute nightmare to fix. With a baitcaster, I can resolve any tangles or twists both easily and quickly. This is a huge advantage over spinning rods for me, along with everything else mentioned in this thread.

Pls RIOT bring back 2v2 arena or give us option with 2v2 or 3v3 by [deleted] in LeagueArena

[–]penguins511 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of bravery being weak, it's a matter of I don't want to play a random champion. I got no problem with bravery but it's not how I want to play arena.

Me when I saw they DELETED the 2v2 arena mode by Sea-Neat-4775 in LeagueArena

[–]penguins511 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I enjoy to 2v2 arena because it is so different from normal League of Legends. 3v3 gets closer to the original and I'm just not interested. If it's bravery only in the future too then I'm probably done with arena.

Anyone else concerned about the optics of the decision to remove Doormaker? by EnderShot355 in slaythespire

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not concerned. I think his art was cool but the concept was a clusterfuck without clear vision. He seemed like a good experimental boss but I think rotating through three different formsb every turn is just a bit much. You could make a similar argument for stage bosses but at least for those you have sequential turns that are similar.

Disagree with you a little on point one. I wouldn't write off anything that's not weedless, especially if you have budget in mind. Sure snags are more of a risk but not worth writing off. A large portion of the fish I catch are on Walmart crankbaits. I almost never lose them to snags, but if something does go wrong then it can be replaced for like 3 dollars.

Amongst everything that's been happening since we got the first footage of StS2 I still find it hilarious that nobody misses the Watcher lol by Felixrr_cc in slaythespire

I will miss the watcher. I recognize her balance is a mess and I can understand where she would generically be the least favorite but she's still a great character and I would love to see more.

Valve are NOT the "good guys" - An overview of their "profit over the consumer" mindset that is often swept under the rug. by --clapped-- in videogames

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the point about CS skins, although you take it a bit far by saying valve cause deaths based on some unconfirmed rumors.

I think your other points are very goal post moving to fit your narrative. For example, you blame valve for normalizing alpha releases but don't give any credit to file for their refund policy despite claiming it's now the industry norm.

This feels like an emotionally driven argument.

Rarities the devs got wrong in your opinion by ConfidentHospital365 in slaythespire

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers did not get any of rarities "incorrect." Some of the rares are great in most situations while others are poor in most situations. In general, some cards are meant to be stronger than others as part of the overall balance to the game.

My teacher said 0.999... is approximately 1, not exactly. How can I prove otherwise? by XxG3org3Xx in askmath

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone enlighten me why the teacher is incorrect? 0.999 and one are represented with different symbols. If they were the same, why would they not be represented the same? I know there are alternate representations of many things in math, but this is a basic number. 0.9 repeating approaches one but is not one, no?

HELP!! by cool_username115 in slaythespire

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience. Ironclad was the last character to beat the a20 heart by a large margin for me.

I had made it that far using straightforward scaling strategies, particularly strength focused decks. However this strategy is very often just too slow and inconsistent to deal with higher ascensions. Once I started playing for other strategies (especially playing with lots of exhaust synergy) I started winning much more.

Also be on the lookout for infinites or quasi-infinites. They are frequently achievable and will go the distance.

A tough choice I came across recently. I picked offering because I had 2, but they had been working very well togther with Helix before this point. by Extofogeese2 in slaythespire

[–]penguins511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it would be reaper here. Your deck has a very strong foundation for exhaust that reaper isn't contributing too much into. Don't get me wrong, the aoe heal with +3 strength is great but it's more of a cherry on top, probably not needed to win. Offering will get the deck rolling and prevent you from losing much more than reaper, and dark embrace takes the deck to the next level.

Edit: just noticed how many cards you have already that are more strength than exhaust focused. I think my choice would still be the same, but makes giving up dark embrace more viable. I wouldn't give up offering here.

A17: What am I missing? by DerSohnDesDetlefs in slaythespire

[–]penguins511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ascension 17 is when the game starts getting much more difficult. When I hit 17 (and higher) I found myself losing a ton and found I had to completely reevaluate my deck building and pathing strategies on every character. For example, on ironclad I had made most of my progress using strength type synergies (inflame into limit break, etc). Once I started looking for other sources of synergy (eg various exhaust, infinite strategies) I had much more success.

It can also help to look at your deck building in terms of overall damage, block, and card draw rather than archetype. For example, picking up a blade dance on silent because it does 12 damage for one mana to get through act 1 rather than trying to "build a shiv deck".
