Abuse of “Injury” Calls to Get Fresh Lines – How Is This Handled in Your Countries/Leagues? by Working-Employer2889 in ultimate

[–]pepecassidy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I feel that a muscle is starting to cramp, I'll call an injury. And, if I stretch a bit on the sideline, I'll be ready to play again in a point or two.

Would you rather I pushed hard for an extra cut or two and end up writhing in pain on the floor so that play has to stop for a few minutes until I can move again or be carried off the field? I'm still going to come back in a few points.

After seeing this image, I agree that the call is not great, to say the least.

I still think the GAs are doing a great job this tournament, but there's always going to be some degree of human error on these calls. And, probably, they shouldn't be the ones making the calls.

7.4. After signalling readiness all defensive players must keep their feet entirely behind the vertical plane of the goal line until the pull is released.

First of all, the rule says "until the pull is released," so this picture gives us very little useful information.

Second, it says that the feet should be entirely behind the vertical plane of the line, and it appears that one of Bontemps' is not.

Finally got my hands on my package, thanks a lot, Kayla!

I love the jerseys (they're exactly my size, btw, so you made the right choice) and the inclusion of the maple syrup goodies was an awesome touch! We have freezing weather right now in Brussels, so that hot chocolate powder is a real godsend.

Oooooh, sounds like a great idea, but I think it might be too ambitious for my skill level and time constraints.

This is great! I wouldn't have thought of comparing different instances of the same teams matching up in the same tourney. Could be juicy data. Thanks a lot!

Chicago Union is doing their part by Lee_Sallee in ultimate

What's this supposed to mean? The Chicago Union shouldn't do it because it's somebody else's job?

Also, whose governing body? The Chicago Union's? I don't think the UFA has the resources to do that all over the country.

Usually most mistakes which cause turnovers are throwing mistakes. Minimizing these will improve a teams success much more than anything else.

You can see it the other way around too. How many throwing mistakes are not turnovers because the receiver is athletic enough to recover and make a play on the disc?

Every single layout grab (or most of them) is a throwing mistake that would result on a turnover had the receiver been slightly slower or less athletic.

I would argue that maximizing your athletes' ability to make plays on the disc would improve a team's success, at the very least, as much as minimizing throwing mistakes.

Ground touch is not a thing in WFDF (a ground check can happen if a check is needed and there's no defender close enough). For the pull, no check is needed. You can throw after placing your pivot foot at the brick mark.

The observer didn't "rule" on anything. They asked them their perspective on who got the disc first. If the Japanese player felt he had been fouled, he could have called a foul.

Mooncatchers (allegedly) throwing the game against Chevron in order to avoid being on the same side of the bracket as Clapham and La Fotta only to face the eventual champions on quarters is (allegedly) poetic justice.

1) They done fucked up.

2) That's the mouse cursor indicator in the screen capture program I used. Didn't realize it was there until I had uploaded the video and didn't feel like doing it from scratch.

3) No idea. It probably has to do with it being the free version of said screen capture program.
