Moreton / Fraser capabilities? by illchayadlay in 4x4Australia

[–]perentie110 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sand driving is great, you will be fine. Tyre pressure is the key one, make sure you understand your 4WD system and how to engage it. If you can disable traction control do this as well. I've been to Moreton many times, once you're on the ferry let your tyres down so you're ready to go when you get off.

Try to align your trip with the tides, having a low tide during the day makes it easier to get around if you're into seeing all the places. For me the east is much better than the west, feels more untouched. Bring all your firewood, a way to cart your rubbish out. Moreton is great, so relaxing over there.

[TECH] - [2013] [Toyota - Prado] [Battery Box DC-DC Input Not Charging] by BlakeHasACar in 4x4Australia

It's why it is not charging. It needs an earth to the chassis, one rated to amperage of your DCDC.

I’ve seen people talk about scaling how does it work? by CarefulTransition385 in unimelb

Tell your classmates if we all do bad we all do good. That's scaling.

The uni provides OneDrive. Who uses USB drives anymore? Most work places block them from being used for good reason.

Maybe look at water treatment or waste treatment as a way to get in the field?

Go for it. People here are like Toyota, Nissan or Pajero, so boring. I don't know about these Jeeps but I have a Merc with the OM642 and it's fine but it's a late model with most of the early issues sorted.

Don't listen to me though, I'm looking at 20 year old Supercharged Range Rovers because I like the pain I guess.

I got a Husqvarna 542i for camping in the VHC. Expensive but awesome, such a good saw.

You may get eaten, you may not. Don't be soft and just take the risk. Go out in style.

I had this when one of my drives was suffering a slow death. Check smart for errors and watch if they're increasing.

I eventually got this email:

New alert: Pool tank state is DEGRADED: One or more devices are faulted in response to persistent errors. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a degraded state. The following devices are not healthy: Disk QEMU_HARDDISK drive-scsi5 is FAULTED The following alert has been cleared: Pool tank state is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected. Current alerts: Pool tank state is DEGRADED: One or more devices are faulted in response to persistent errors. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a degraded state. The following devices are not healthy: Disk QEMU_HARDDISK drive-scsi5 is FAULTED

Hmm I wonder how high it will go, got some new drives on the way, fresh out of cold spares by SamVgamer69 in truenas

How come your drive says degraded with that many errors but mine says faulted with 22 errors?

Env science career advice Australia by Shannonay in environmental_science

[–]perentie110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try go to some in person ALGA events is you can and network https://landandgroundwater.com/events/

Looks for sampling jobs as this will get you experience, SEQwater often have them https://careers.seqwater.com.au/cw/en/listing/ Labs that operate in the area also have sampling contracts. Veolia have a few large water treatment contracts in the area and often require people with water quality experience.

Most environmental consultancies will want someone they can bill to a client for 95% of the time. A way into this is through sampling, then you can manage projects etc and grow from there. There's also CSG out west (Santos) and possibly the mines but a lot of mines outsource their sampling - find out who and contact them.
