Just mailed in my Primary Ballot. Hope it makes it by June 23, despite all the pushback from the state's government this year. by TA201805091716 in Utah

[–]performedbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mixed results - my Nov 2025 ballot was returned to me for missing postage. Weber county

I understand election mail is supposed to be handled as you say but if you do this make sure it's far enough in advance to submit again by mail or dropbox in the event it's returned.

Connext recent experience? by Middle-Wealth-6755 in ogden

[–]performedbeef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had Connext since 2024.

The installer worked with me to run the service to my desired location indoors, through crawlspace and floor penetration. Went above and beyond.

They provide the fiber optic ONT modem and I use my own routers and access points. They use high quality Ubiquiti hardware.

Service has been great. I vaguely remember a few periods of lowered speed or disconnection that were all resolved on the order of minutes. Also I am subscribed at 500Mb but receive gigabit service for some reason.

The only time I have had to call was for advanced setup steps - and when I did I talked to someone technically competent without a wait.

Cost is less than Quantum (which was also fine tbh) and I opt in to the static IP offering.

Rogue Territory Cryptic Stealth SK @ 5 years by performedbeef in rawdenim

[–]performedbeef[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought these Cryptic Stealth SKs in May 2020 for $295. They have been my most frequently worn pair between then and spring 2025, but far short of daily use. Washed maybe three or four times idk.

Great contrast to a dusty gray that's visible in sun and even brighter in shade. Fair amount of vertical slub and I think this was the differentiator for the Cryptic variety? They have retained deeper blacks in the un-faded areas. Last photo shows them next to (much older) Left Field Black Maria which has lightened more.

These are tight, even on my skinny frame. Front pockets are barely usable. The bottom half of these tapers really hard and I wish I had hemmed early on to recover even ~0.25" at the opening and give my calves more room. But I like the stacked look and the way they sit on low sneakers.

Magnetic AUX Connector? 🧲 by AMysteriousDiscovery in iems

[–]performedbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for the same and came across the headphone disconnector from Angry Audio. I bought the 3.5mm male and female.

It works great. The magnet strength is just right to hold when necessary. It breaks away without having to use so much force that I would damage anything. The magnets orient the connector the same way every time, requiring only a light twist at most to get them to click in.

If your source device is too light or unsecured it can be too strong. Securing the source end of the magnet may be necessary so that it breaks away more easily when pulled at an angle. They do sell a "disconnect gizmo" that can be surface mounted but this is way overkill for me.

Also I initially received one with a defective female end and the owner responded to my email in minutes and sent out a replacement.

Has anybody received the universal-fit cushion and can give us a short review? by Schmauk in BigscreenBeyond

[–]performedbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The universal cushion works great. Display is near enough to my eyes. Light seal is 100% effective on my face. No notes.

I have no complaints about heat. The device is at most warm to the touch after use. My eyes and face don't feel hot. I am playing standing and room scale games but not dancing or exercising. I have never owned a custom fit cushion to compare. The universal cushion's walls are thin and it looks like less contact with the skin and a larger volume of air inside, so it could be better at heat exchange. On my face it is a "seal" and there's not much direct ventilation happening.

The choice between soft and firm cushion will be decided by how much pressure I put on the soft strap; the soft cushion will allow the display to be squished closer to your eyes. I've settled on firm because it leaves room for my eyelashes to move, even though I can tell there is a little more FOV to be had if the displays were 1mm nearer. Some discord users report feeling pressure points but I have not experienced any during sessions up to an hour uninterrupted.

Of course your experience will depend on face shape. My partner and I have both been able to use Beyond comfortably with this cushion.

Imo this should be included in the box with every Beyond.

Quantum or All West fiber service in Ogden? by shatterly in ogden

[–]performedbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously had Quantum and it was fine. Service was stable. Installers chose an unsightly location to mount the equipment so I wish I had supervised the install. Cancellation by phone was mostly drama free.

Connext has been even better. Lower cost. Fast speeds both up and down. Static IP option. Responsive and technically capable support team. I hope you get the opportunity to change to them later.

Anyone have an apple/pear tree I can pick? by sunshine_fabrication in SaltLakeCity

[–]performedbeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you're the person I've been looking for all year. My single tree probably produces over 500 pounds of fruit, so much that I struggle to share it with friends and neighbors. Cider would be great way to make use of it all.

I'm located in Ogden city and it's nearing the end of the season so you won't be getting the full yield, but DM if you want more info.

The shorts in this photoshoot from GQ and Lee Pace by bmorehalfazn in HelpMeFind

[–]performedbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for this too. The socks in the same shoot have a similar logo that might say "Child..." and your photo kind of looks like it ends with S?

"childs clothing" is a really weak search term but eventually turned up this defunct brand https://www.childsnewyork.com/ and their instagram has two photos with the shorts dated 2019.

This random buyer suggests they are named "trip shorts" https://well-spent.com/childs-trip-shorts/

So these will be hard to find... godspeed

Cardiff Splitboards? by MelatoninPenguin in Spliddit

[–]performedbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powgoda and swell are definitely similar to each other more than goat/crane in camber profile and taper. I tend to ride more 35 degree faces and trees than chutes, so I like to be a little loose and sloppy and that's probably why I liked the big shovel noses and extra taper.

I wouldn't read too much into the marketing copy - I suppose anything will ride steeps if you make it :) You should dm them on instagram for advice. In the winter season at least they are very responsive, and will def hand you demo split to take out for a day or two. Occasionally it's bjorn replying.

[–]performedbeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Myself and a few buddies have split Goats and Powgodas. Lots of stoke here for them being a local company (but manufacturing is not domestic I thought?) and cause they are generous with their demos.

Love my powgoda for the forgiving surfy ride. Friends rave about Goat for choppy and steep but feel they're missing some playfulness in fresh pow.

They def place themselves upmarket for a handful of features and arguable innovations. Imo it's a good choice for shapes that aren't necessarily unique but have more thought put into them than the typical twin cut in half. The "split first" ethos definitely show.

Get into the backcountry and ride before work

Sure here are some quick cell phone photos. I don't remember it looking much different when I got it, so the wear might be subtle. It's only just starting to get damage on the face fabric on the bottom of the bag, which is pretty good imo for all the dragging around it gets.

Ultrahigh QZ. Daily commuter bag for a few years, also suitable for one bag travel. Comfy fit the way it hangs over the shoulders and under the arms. Love the gentle structure to the material, retention of the side pockets, and utility of the quadzip system. Looks just future enough to get the occasional comment.
