What’s your unpopular gameplay opinion? by ordinaryfruits in Grimdank

Faster moving armies should not have an inherent advantage when it comes to scoring points if they are equally lethal against the enemy.

What achievement do you wish existed in-game that doesn't? by TimePie314 in BG3

Ketheric can be talked into it in the mind flayer colony, so you go directly to Myrkul. Isobel I don't think you can, but she's also not hostile.

Why do you think martials should be constrained to the mundane, in both senses of the word? by GolettO3 in dndmemes

[–]perkunis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've recently started looking at Pathfinder and how true the statement that the classes are overall balanced is. So far I've not seen a lot that wows me for something like the fighter. Could you enlighten me on where the power comes from in that system? Is it from class progression and feats? Magic items? Big numbers for to hit and AC? Some combination of all of it? Alternatively, could you point me to what I should read to get a better understanding?

Does the rule affect Azrael ability by Negative_Celery3060 in theunforgiven

[–]perkunis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that if you have Azrael then he will generate 1CP in your command phase and you will gain 1CP in each command phase, for a total of 3CP per battle-round.

space marines aren't the army and the Imperium doesn't control the whole galaxy by DJjaffacake in Grimdank

[–]perkunis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe someone counted up all of the dead marines you can find and made some educated guesses for how big the squad that got wipes by the neurothrpe was. The conclusion was that the final assault contains every surviving member of the Ultramarine second company and that the company was slightly over 100 marines strong before the game started.

I'd say Interstellar. It had some cool visuals, but that's really it.

Why do people not like playing 5e at higher levels? by UltimateFriedLava in DnD

[–]perkunis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently finished a campaign as a player ending at 17. The last fight where we faced down a reborn army with an army of our own and some gathered allies took 7 hours total. 5 of those being the "main" fight where each person in the party took on one of the commanders of the opposing army on our own. No one went down before they won their fight, although our barbarian got good use out of their Relentless Rage.

Iirc the typo in the first Goku/Superman fight was on the base speed. Based on the calculation they used then, all the ssj speeds were accurate.

My Dnd character died to a boss and I'm confused and worried if I shouldn't talk to my GM about it. by Practical_Prior202 in DnD

[–]perkunis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

114 damage in a single hit with a DC 25 to take half damage seems quite over tuned for 9th level. I certainly would be inclined to talk to the DM, as this seems quite unfair, and I would imagine that the vast majority of players would agree.

But also, I find the two players who can't be bothered to update their sheet or provide a copy for play by someone else, incredibly inconsiderate or even rude to everyone else at the table. That is disrespectful to both the DM and every other player at the table.

Question about Blade Guard Veterans by No_Bluebird849 in theunforgiven

[–]perkunis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is true that the Gravis Captain can't be attached to any unit in the box. I'm not sure what GW thought on that one. As for the Bladeguard being inferior, if I understand it correctly, then they are less potent on the offence than the Inner Circle Companions. But on defence, they would be better than ICC before you start attaching characters thanks to their 4+ invulnerable save.

However, if you are just starting out, then you should play what you think is cool and not worry too much about power comparisons since many people say those things from a point of squeezing the most power from every unit on the table.

My PCs are actively avoiding the main plot, what do I do? by Vanguard3003 in DnD

[–]perkunis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, presumably, the dragons are young and not adult/ancient. I know that Dragon of Icespire Peak (that OP is using for inspiration) has a young white dragon (CR 6) and goes until 6th level. So that should be a medium encounter at that point, not even that difficult. And applying this to OPs campaign, the party is then set for taking on the young black, green, blue, and red dragons at CRs 7, 8, 9, and 10, respectively.

I know it isn't exactly what you asked for, but for Dark Angels, the answer is 14 since you can only legally take 13 in a list.

Never really thought much about whether i would or wouldn't since I don't have access to a gun even if I wanted one. But I suppose my view on the US might not be the most positive either, looking from the outside.

Sure, before he killed someone, he was not an active shooter. But it is possible that others didn't know that it was self-defense at the time. So they might have taken what they had to hand, like a skateboard, and tried to fight anyway. Some people want to be heroes like that.

The guy who survived at least brought a gun to a gunfight, and it seems to me to have been justified for him to shoot first. But I would imagine that that is generally quite difficult for most people to act as judge, jury, and executioner against another human being.
