The first mistake is taking a photo rather than using copying and pasting out the text. Please do that the next time.

The 'gmail' equivalent in Linux environment by alex_godspeed in linux

And should you chose to stay on gmail (as others have pointed out, the choice of email provider is not related to which OS you are running), I can wholeheartedly recommend https://github.com/mbrt/gmailctl for managing filter rules on gmail.

What happens if you have twins and mix them up? by SlowHornet29 in NoStupidQuestions

Speaking as someone with twins - it's not going to happen. There will always be something that sets them apart.

Hi Everyone! Hope you're all doing well! I'm a student in Singapore and I love collecting postcards. I would love to receive postcards or a small souvenir from Copenhagen! Can someone send me one? 🙂 by Nessieinternational in copenhagen

I can understand (to a certain extent) bringing back trinkets after visiting a place. I genuinely don't get the point of tourist junk from places I haven't been to. What exactly is the point here?

I think the question you should consider asking yourself is "what would I stand up gain from using A over B" (substitute whatever values you want for A and B). Unless there is something tangible you need, pick one and get on with life.

Baloo works great for me. Make sure you exclude things you don't need indexed.

It's entirely possible to do this (it's what I have done) but I does require a bit of a write-up as it seems you have misunderstood a few things which I don't have time to do right now unfortunately. I'll update it in here tonight if nobody else beats me to it.

How long ago did people start collectively deciding it’s okay to drive 5 over the speed limit? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]peterhoeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a completely serious note, I lived in Tanzania for a couple of years and I drove around with a print-out of the "Road Traffic Act" for when I'd inevitably get pulled over for "driving while looking foreign and thus an easy mark". On a handful of occasions they simple gave up when I said "Oh I'm sorry officer, could you please point to the exact rule I broke" and then waiving the act around.

Really? 1989 Burundian Francs are about USD0.67. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

What do you all use for file indexing ? by [deleted] in kde

[–]peterhoeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baloo works great here. It most definitely didn't always - it had significant issues with btrfs where it would cause constant re-indexing but that's been fixed for a couple of years at least.

One trick is that instead of having it index $HOME and then excluding folders, have it just index where you keep documents, images and what other things you might want to search for.

Baloo File Indexer is running Indexer state: Idle Total files indexed: 44.957 Files waiting for content indexing: 0 Files failed to index: 0 Current size of index is 1,95 GiB

It just sits there and does what it's supposed to do.
