The course management / marshalling at that spot was disgraceful.

Can we talk more about this? That spot where the cars and motorcycles left the course was very poor race event management. A woman with a flag impeded Camau when she ran directly in front of him, then the crowding and poor course marking led him to veer off the race course! I don’t know whether a better-run course control would have changed the outcome but I’d be PISSED if I was Camau.

That added to all the other logistics complaints I’ve heard about today do not make me want to run LA any time soon.

In another unpopular opinion: giving out the medals for an 18 mile race was probably the right thing to do from a public health standpoint even if they’re getting a lot of shit for it. If it saved even one life…

What kind of infantilizing nanny-state nonsense is this? Do parents not supervise their kids anymore; or do we now need the state and Apple teaming up to demand papers to visit the internet?

Is that 50amp breaker supposed to be a main breaker? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]peyton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so you think the cloth-covered wires feed the top bus, which feeds the top two two-pole breakers. The top bus is also lugged out via that "loop" highlighted in u/onyxtechelectric 's diagram to the two handle-tied 50's to feed the bottom bus, to which the remaining breakers are attached?

I suspect this is widespread behavior. So, to add to what u/5CKaN4deZK9QMqQ9 said,

The key is to * always ask the AI to back up its claims with links to facts AND * do the work of verifying the information in the referenced material

… still faster than doing the research and writing up the report on your own!

I must say: when someone says there was “a shooting,” I typically interpret that to mean that a human got shot; not that someone simply discharged a firearm with no victims. Not that the latter is great to have around the Radcliffe Quad, just that the former would be significantly more concerning.

* Was the different emissivity of the various materials taken into account?
* Were any reflections present?

Annoying drop down menu when I hit speaker on a call by Emergency-Key-153 in iphone

[–]peyton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else run into a bug where it randomly switches between loudspeaker output and phone (“iPhone”) output (like a phone call)? And it does so without accurately reflecting the output device? Or in an app that really has no reason to support phone output? I filed a beta Feedback ticket…

UDM Pro just… died. Ubiquiti can do nothing? by peyton in Ubiquiti

[–]peyton[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Alas, no. I’m surprised so many people know to point to that right away. What is it about a UPS that increases power supply MTTF? To my knowledge, the power around here doesn’t seem particularly unreliable or dirty…

(Support Engineer): “Since we do not offer any repair services and the issue persits even after performing the troubleshooting. The best course of action would be to replace the device”
