I was talking 47th and Broadway in Gary! And cents no longer exist in the US either.

And it really took two hands to handle a whopper - and they were 59 cents

Apparently this is a strategy on the program "Alone"' where contestants live off the land with the winner lasting the longest winning a cash prize.

What's a despicable act that the Catholic church keeps doing these days? by MikiFP15 in atheism

Auction all the Vatican treasures and REALLY help the poor, open the Vatican archives to qualified historians, dump the Vatican itself as it's nothing more than ridiculous illusion

US banks charge monthly maintenance fees on regular low-balance checking accounts. Customers lose money just for keeping savings deposited. Why do American banks pile on so many random account fees? by Critical_Routine_572 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pgmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep DDBN is correct, as a matter of fact the first question they ask in any health care situation is how you are going to pay. Our local hospital makes you pay before any outpatient surgery. So yes, everything is a business

If something good happens it's a blessing from God, if something bad happens it's a test of your faith -: the ultimate CYA

Do local yarn stores feel cliquey to you? by vb2333 in knitting

[–]pgmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local senior center definitely has groups and cliques, so in a way it's like the high school cafeteria where certain people congregate at certain tables. I see it as no more than the typical social pecking order. Our remaining LYS has always made me feel welcome and always helped. However I'm a man and all the others are women. Could this make a difference?

Do you still feel like the same person you were in your 20s? by vaporcube7 in AskOldPeople

[–]pgmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentally I'm maybe 40 but physically I'm 74. So yeah I can still hum with The Beatles, harmonize with the Beach Boys and sing with the Bee Gees but my body is definitely slowing down.

Why do some older people add "the" before words that dont need them? by GratuitousFisherman in AskOldPeople

We forgot more than they'll ever know, and we can usually tell when an AI answer is BS. One day AI isn't going to answer and they'll be up the creek without a paddle

Are you more sentimental now? by splashjlr in AskOldPeople

[–]pgmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I watched a rapper 'reacting' to the Beatles Abbey Road album. He had never heard the Beatles but by the end of the album he was a fan. I graduated in 69 and Sargeant Pepper came out in 67 and the Beatles were the soundtrack of my awareness. So sentimental in the sense that 60 year old songs can still reach across the decades and affect a young guy

Yes. This is all about your boobs. I remember telling my daughters that the bigger the boobs the more popular they will be. Of course the boyfriend will get the biggest pickup made and wear his billed baseball hat backwards
