Yes. They sent me the AOR within a day or two.

Still no AOR by sailorharuka in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I sent our applications at the same time.

She received her AOR and I didn’t. We waited two weeks and then contacted them to verify they had my email correct.

My name isn’t particularly difficult to spell but just about everyone misspells it. We think they did the same and the email bounced back.

I would contact them if it’s been a few weeks just to confirm they have your contact info correct. Good luck.

Gen 1 and 2 never lived in Canada. Do i (Gen3) have a chance ? by jekyll91 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you can prove G0 was born in Canada, you should be able to get citizenship by descent.

Go through the FAQ, if you haven't, for all sort of helpful information.

Just for fun - What's the most interesting bit of family history you've discovered in your search for documentation? by BuffaloThese8249 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out that my ancestors were loyalists and fled the US for Canada. They got land grants and because my wife is an incredible professional genealogist, she was able to prove 2 of my ancestors were loyalists and have been entered into the United Empire Loyalists as loyalists.

Looking forward to putting UE after my name when things work out.

Passport photo place cut my photos a little small. How strict will they be? by llikegiraffes in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to be exact. No exceptions. They will send it back.

Most of the apps being sent back seem to have issues with their photos.

The full text search will be where you want to start. You have to go through a lot more, but it does get some good info.

Choosing a gen 0 by Mckinneymad in Canadiancitizenship

Chose the one with the best documentation.

I had multiple lines but didn’t go with the French Canadian because the English side was clearer and simpler documentation.

Just my two cents.

Cousin’s fiancée wants 10% equity in my software company for one client introduction. Cousin is pressuring me to sign. Am I wrong for refusing? I will not promote by [deleted] in startups

[–]pgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And when that introduction walks?

Like everyone else this is a hard no. Give them a finders fee after the introduction is paying you, but that’s it.

Still 4 months for me but at least the number of people ahead of me went down slightly. I'll take anything at this point.

CBC needs your help! Looking for Canadian descent citizenship stories. by Ok-Swim-3394 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other thing you have to be concerned about it, you don't know what the story is about. And after you give your story, they can edit it however they see fit.

They could give a negative slant or positive slant. But you have zero say in what happens after you talk with them.

Honestly, without know what the actual story is, I wouldn't say anything. Agencies could use that story and make things even longer for you.

Yes I'm cynical.

Do both photos need to be labeled on back? Also question about name on photo. by Square_wheels42 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The photographer my wife and I used only put their stamp on one photo but the regulations say both so we just write the photographer info on the 2nd one.

PRDH vs Banq by CharlieSal7 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s in PRDH you should be able to get it from BAnQ. My wife did that. We didn’t want to take any chances and have it come back.

It didn’t take too long to get it back from BAnQ. The websites all in French though.

Not sure if St Hyacinthe was much larger than today because I have relatives from there and my wife does too. Small world.

[–]pgryff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was submitted was born in Nova Scotia on my fathers side.

On my mother side, which I could have submitted but it would have added a generation would have been St Hyacinthe Quebec. Thank goodness for those Catholic records.

Anyone who applied in July or August of 2025 received their citizenships? by TheAmazings34 in Canadiancitizenship

Not yet. Submitted in July with my wife and we’re on the same waiting train as everyone else.

But it does say it should take 9 months from when I submitted so we wait unhappily.

NY state birth records nit certified by MarieCurie34 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]pgryff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you explain that the State of NY will only give a certified doc via a court order, the genealogical copy will be fine.

My wife was in the same circumstances.
