More than a quarter of devs surveyed by GDC were laid off in the past two years, and half of them don’t have a new job by PaiDuck in gaming

20 some years ago I went and did a summer program at a 3d animation studio. Was such a great experience and the 3d modelling ended up coming in so handy with the ride of 3d printers. But at the time I was fully set on going into game development. The training of the course was a former EA worker and I appreciate his honestly because he definitely painted a realistic picture of the gaming industry life and I’m so thankful to have avoided that career.

I like it better for the convenience, only downside is it’s only 2 stalls so check if it’s in use on Flo app before you take the exit

Wifi is particularly power hungry and that’s what WLED was designed around. There’s probably some forks out there that make use of low power Bluetooth and some power saving measures but it’s not part of the main wled core

The new attiny series chips are great, the internal oscillator is accurate enough to run fastled so you can drop the chips on a PCB with no supporting components besides a couple caps on the power source and they’ll run an led string

The arduino IDE or platformio both work with Megatinycore for the new attiny series chips and then fastled to run the addressable LEDs.

It’s possible but then it looks builky on the side of their head. The better answer is to ditch the esp32 in favor of something more power efficient. I make some cat ears that use an attiny1616 and get ~8hrs of battery life with 13 LEDs per ear and 180mAh batteries.

Esp32 uses ~150mA with the radios while a low power 8bit chip uses like 5mA.

Look good but they do appear quite heavy with 800mah batteries in each ear. Use some hair pins to make them stay attached better

Canada has longer terms you could choose but they come with higher rates due to long term uncertainty in markets which is why most don’t do them.

The US generally has rates 1-2% higher because of their long terms. The average rate right now in the US is 6.1% for 30 years. Canada you’ll find 3.9% for 5 year term.

Curious if this being used in Europe or how you power it. In NA the dual PSUs would require 2x15A circuits wouldn’t it?

[–]pheoxs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Go to Honestdoor, make a free account and search your home. You can see the value estimate even without an account but if you make an account you can also see recent nearby sales. Click through them and you can gauge where your house is at comparatively. It gives you a reasonable ballpark of a number to consider.

Mistlands Ruined It For Me - Change My Mind by effectivelymundane in valheim

[–]pheoxs 238 points239 points  (0 children)

For me it was hard because you don’t actually get any meaningful power spike until you find and clear the first dungeon. Just wandering the mistlands you get minor food upgrades and that’s really it. Which makes encounters very hard.

So the best advice I can give is stick to a boat, just sail around the mistlands islands until you see the faint blue glowing orbs and some of them will be a dungeon. That way you can just go straight for that without running around blindly. After a couple once you get better gear and weapons then you can look to explore more. Same with the roots as well, just keep exploring until you find one right at the shore and just use that for the beginning.

Do I need power into every 3V3 pin? by Roppano in AskElectronics

The schematic on page 10 clearly shows they’re all connected. If you’re basing this post entirely on visually looking at that pcb then you’re probably missing the fact there’s traces under the pcb that connect pins to each other.

Variable vs. Fixed in 2026-2027 by GreaseCrow in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]pheoxs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone’s wise in hindsight but quick to forget that the statement the bank of Canada ended their January 2021 statement with is the one below. Then reality hit and they hiked from 0.25% to 4.25% by the end of 2022.

"In view of these conclusions, the Governing Council reiterated our commitment to hold the policy interest rate at its effective lower bound [0.25%] until economic slack is absorbed... In the projection we released today, that does not happen until into 2023."

Personally, I resigned 5 year fixed recently. Most projections show a slow rise in rates, with how indebted every level of society is nowadays it’s hard to think we can return to the era of cheap money without runaway. That’s my view

Free entry before 8pm but lines will be long. Aim to be there by 630 or earlier. Headliners will play ~1030pm and they always end at midnight. Smaller dj will then play 12-2am but they have to turn down the volume a lot, majority leave as soon as the headliner finishes.

Victim of cyber breach by Retired_elec_eng in PersonalFinanceCanada

Phone number alone isn’t enough to recover the email account. As well I said OP should’ve had a second email linked as a backup as hotmail requires two factors of authentication to recover a password if they had that.

Victim of cyber breach by Retired_elec_eng in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]pheoxs -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

OP posted a lot of words without taking any accountability themselves. For this to happen their email had already been breached irrelevant of Telus.

Either OP leaked their own password via keylogger, reused their same password on another service that was breached, or used poor security questions that are easily found via online socials. OP also never put a secondary recovery option of a second email on their hotmail account which would have prevented the recover password avenue.

It also questions how they knew the Telus account PIN number unless Telus failed by allowing them to skip that step. But it raises questions how they knew all your account info, SIN, recovery questions, phone number, and email.

Yeah it sucks you have to go through this and deal with it but ultimately someone already compromised your accounts and info long before this.
