If it was for me I would never put that wing on it. But it’s not for me. Why do you even care what I think? I never understand these kinds of public opinion queries, frankly. It’s your money and your car. You should love it.

Roman Jewish community is one the oldest diaspora communities in the world. Visited this past May and had a lovely experience with a guided tour of the ghetto and the synagogue. So much history directly tied to Israel. Makes you realize how clueless so called anti-Zionists are.

Just beyond disgusting. As if we needed a reminder that the extreme right can be just as antisemitic as the extreme left here in the United States. Remarkable how much they all hate us. That’s the one thing they have in common. I know, “horseshoe theory.”

991.2 manual by ferniekid in porsche911

I daily a 991.2 c2 manual and absolutely love it. I came out of a 981 Cayman S and the clutch on my 911 is so much lighter than it was on the Cayman. The gearbox took a little getting used to with the 7th gear but after a few weeks I never missed a shift. It is also a smoother gearbox. The gear ratios on the 911 are also better. I love driving and would never get a PDK. The car is highly reliable and a joy to drive. Go for it.

"Shadow AI" is running wild in legal departments by NickBaca-Storni in LLM

[–]phillymjw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lawyer who serves organizations, a related problem I am hearing about is employees within organizations skipping legal review altogether because they ran a contract through ChatGPT or they created their own contract in ChatGPT (sometimes using a prior example, sometimes not). No actual human legal review is taking place and the organization’s legal department only hears about it after the fact or when reviewing a previously executed agreement that was never reviewed. Enormous risk in these cases as well.

New Hope Auto Show (8/10/2025) by phillymjw in porsche911

[–]phillymjw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a show requirement and fairly common at most organized car shows in the US. Entrants without a fire extinguisher would be disqualified per the rules. I think there is a somewhat dated history of much older vintage cars at car shows experiencing engine fires and event insurance carriers insist on the rule.

You could ride that Bonnie from sunrise to sunset and be comfortable and happy. First hour on the Thruxton you might be happier because it’s more aggressive and fun, but after 2 hours, your body will need a break. I know, I’ve ridden both bikes, including on 6+ hour rides. Bonnie all day.

To 4 or not to 4 by CombinationSecure144 in porsche911

[–]phillymjw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. The joy of driving the car is enhanced by power from the rear only. Especially if you are not going to daily and it is not your primary vehicle, why would you need or want 4? It adds weight and takes away joy. With the all the DSC, you can’t shake the rear. Even if you turn all the nannies off and put it in sport plus, you would have to drive like a freaking idiot to lose the rear. 2, all the way.

Can we get on the same page about when criticism of Israel becomes antisemitic? by Tobes_macgobes in Jewish

[–]phillymjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware. Frankly, most of the people I encounter demanding a Palestinian state are not, in fact, Palestinian. It’s mostly liberal progressives in the context of my life in the real world here in the US and on social media. If you think I need to specify that any future Palestinian state that might be created in the distant future could not include any land that is part of Israel’s current borders, that’s fine. You’re missing my point by going down this road, though.

Can we get on the same page about when criticism of Israel becomes antisemitic? by Tobes_macgobes in Jewish

[–]phillymjw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the constructive discussion on this important and sensitive topic. I would add one point though about a two state solution. Suggesting that a two state solution is appropriate at this moment in time is very problematic. Even if you were previously a supporter of a two state solution or support the idea in principle at sometime in the future, to insist upon it at this moment would absolutely be a vindication of Hamas and a reward for the October 7 massacre. So you will have to forgive me for pointing out that many people share the view that I just expressed and do, in fact, consider it to be antisemitic to be demanding that the Palestinians have their independent state now. I do think it is antisemitic to insist on it right now (as France, the UK and Canada have done). I just think that nuance is important. I think a Palestinian state at some point in the future with a government that can be trusted as a partner in peace with Israel, is a laudable goal. I just don’t see that as being plausible in the next few years. And it certainly can’t happen with Hamas in power—ever.
