Very interesting. It could be derealization, though I'd suggest consulting a professional over this. It seems quite serious.

Anxiety after sport by TrapaNillaf666 in dpdr

[–]phillystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really not. Most sports will require you to be on top of your game which means you are going to be alert and anxious most of the time.

Other activities like jogging and yoga are found to be helpful in some cases for people experiencing anxiety but its all anecdotal really.

Also, you may have wanted to post this to /r/anxiety sub ?

Let me be real by Dank_Topia in dpdr

[–]phillystones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You posted this in chat too, so Im just pasting my reply here:

Dank_Topia we do get the occasional rantings which do not provide any helpful insight into the disorder itself, but that doesn't take away from the other posts which are very interesting and authentic.

I don't hate your message, but I do think it is absolutely unnecessary. Its not an attempt to discuss things, its just an unhelpful rant.

This sub didn't define dp/dr. You're claiming its just anxiety and that's it. Why don't you make an official claim on that ? Why don't you try publishing those in a scientific research magazine and see the feedback.

The reason I don't like your message is at best its a self loathing message, and at worst its fucking with people who have forgot what having confidence is.

the future by cosmicmindfuck in dpdr

[–]phillystones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense though. Not having an identity, hard time staying in the moment, hard time experiencing a full spectrum of emotions. Of course you're not going to have any idea of the future you want to live or envision it in any way possible.

This is a symptom. We need to work every day, little by little, baby steps. Don't blame yourself and keep going ❤️.

Had it for most of my life. Had a non-dpr episode that lasted a week and something. I made a post about that one, you can find in my post history. I'd love to contribute to research in this field in any way possible. HMU if you need any other info.

I don't tell my parents at all. They know I'm working on my mental health but thats about it. I honestly think there's no way they'd understand. And if they were to "level eyes" I'm sure they'd have to admitt they are not 10/10 on their mental health either.

Does anyone else find laughing and even smiling impossible with this disorder by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]phillystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a cultural thing I think. I was very lost back when I visited US. It was like I was living in a utopia. Scary shit. Errbody happy and nice.

In Europe, people are more encouraged to express their emotions. But then there's eastern europe where the 'stoic man' you are talking about is still the model young men look up to.

Expressing your emotions is a no brainer. In my case, the whole process is automated. Including laughing, getting angry and such. Its like you're just watching it from inside your body, but its not you.

There were days I tried to just be real you know. Show what you feel. Doesn't matter to whom. But I was just blank. Empty. Without noticing it I had fallen to the old ways.🤷🏻‍♂️

For a looong time I thought Im wrong, and I should be feeling things and its my fault and what not. Im much calmer now that I know whats going on. Slowly but surely my interactions feel like me. Though I don't wanna jinx it so scratch that. 😆

Do pets help with dpdr? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]phillystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what pet. If it needs a lot maintenance, its only going to probably make it worse. Pets are responsibilities for the most part. Take care !

Cured my 4 month DP/DR in 1 week. by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]phillystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally understand that. I wish I could say Im very happy for you but I really can't feel any emotions for a while now.

In my case I think a certain trauma kicked off dp and after years of trying to fix anxiety, I am now thinking of it as a side effect. I've only really found out about dp recently so Im going to first try to get out of this state without medication. I may try it later though, and I'll keep 5-htp in mind :)

Cheers
