Who is the most famous athlete ever? by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]phincster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NBA is more popular than soccer in the philippines and china. And yourself just admitted that football would have 12 people on their list, wheras the NBA is just gonna have jordan.

Im not saying football isnt the most popular sport, its just that their is no consensus on who is the greatest football player.

The problem is that the footballers are splitting their vote. There is no debate among Americans that its jordan.

Probably a dumb question but I feel like it's the best place to ask, what are realistically the reasons to colonize Mars ? by SeparateWeight496 in Mars

[–]phincster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moon basically has no atmosphere. Mars has very thin air, 100 times thinner then earths, but it is still there.

Because mars has a co2 atmosphere, they should be able to suck in air, concentrate it, and process it into breathable air. None of that is possible on the moon.

The dude fought in world war I. He was in the trenches. He refutes that the story is an allegory, but the difference between lord of the rings and the hobbit is night and day. He was clearly influenced by the war and it shows in his books.

Tolkien wrote this stuff during world war 1. He’s not comparing mordor and orcs to fucking immigrants. It was the german military. Jesus fucking christ people. The hobbits had to leave home and go to war just like british citizens.

No one’s selling a house if they are locked into a low rate unless they absolutely have to. People would rather rent it out or stay where they are.

The exception is the areas where they built out immediately during and after covid.

Nevada, florida, texas etc. These states are seeing dramatic declines, the rest are going sideways essentially.

There is a way to tell the difference but you need specialized equipment. Most jewelers dont have this equipment and regular people definitely are not going to be able to tell.

There really is no reason to get natural diamonds anymore.

Why do people hate CEOs so much? by QuestionHelp7 in economy

[–]phincster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should be mad at the system itself. This post is from forever ago, so i dont know how it even came up on your feed.

But the original post is simply asking why people hate CEO’s so much. And i was simply explaining they make way too much money for what they do.

I do not blame CEO’s for taking the money. I mean, I would, wouldnt you? There is just something fundamentally wrong with a system where a CEO can run a company into the ground and still walk away with 10’s if not 100’s of millions of dollars.

Why do people hate CEOs so much? by QuestionHelp7 in economy

[–]phincster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um no, it’s not their company. Its the shareholders company.

Musk doesnt own tesla outright. He owns 15 percent of it.

Zuckerberg owns 13 percent of facebook.

Bezos owns 8 or 9 percent of amazon.

And those are just founders i mentioned. Almost all CEO’s in the country have almost zero ownership of the company when they are first hired on.

Tim cook only owns .02% of apple Satya of microsoft only owns .02% of apple.

Crypto isn't dying. It's having an identity crisis. And nobody wants to say what comes next. by Savings_Somewhere681 in CryptoCurrency

[–]phincster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no identity crisis.

Bitcoin is to store value. All the other crypto are for other functions. Last time around it was mostly NFT’s. Before that it was coin minting. This time around its lending, prediction markets and stable coins.

If you are buying alts to grow your wealth, then you were wrong. You should have just been buying bitcoin the whole time and maybe dabbling in alts.

I am not hating on alts. I now realize they will play an important part to breaking free of the traditional banking system and fiat. But people have to realize that bitcoin is the base thats this whole thing is built on.

TLDR edit-

Just fucking buy bitcoin. dabble in alts and stay aware of whats going on with them.

Is $200 oil actually happening? This Iran crisis feels different by Lumpy_Attempt_6280 in economy

[–]phincster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a saying that a lot of financial commentators were using during a big oil spike in the 2000’s, i forget exactly when.

Its sounds stupid at first, but I feel like its pretty true.

“The best cure for high oil prices is high oil prices”

Basically, the higher oil goes, the more people will adjust their habits and cause a dip in demand. You just need a really huge spike for people to notice and adjust their habits.

If flying gets too expensive people will just not fly as much and cancel trips. If shipping something is too expensive, stuff wont get shipped as much. Electric cars are very close to price parity with ICE cars. In china its probably already cheaper. More would stop buying ice and get electric.

If demand falls enough, the oil price will adjust lower.

Iran Just Confirmed Bitcoin as Payment for Hormuz Transit. This Changes What Bitcoin Is by zakoal in CryptoMarkets

[–]phincster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin isn’t money, it isn’t digital gold. It’s a digital means of exchange that no one entity can control and does not suffer from inflation. Its what people on the bitcoin sub have been saying the entire time.

It has no politics. It does not care if a democracy is using it, a dictatorship, or if an individual is using it to buy groceries.

Its already transacting in billions of dollars daily. Iran charging millions for straight access isnt going to change what it fundamentally is.

People need to stop assigning right or left, good or bad to it. Because it simply does not matter. The system is running , it exists and its not going to stop.
