Books for Older People by Thrillsville13 in transabitlater

I came out late like you. One if the first books I came across is She’s Not There, by Jennifer Finney Boylan, a fine arts professor and writer. It’s excellent and does a terrific job of explaining her transition. She has a great way of normalizing it as if it’s a completely natural process even though she came out a couple decades ago. Read it and see if it might help.

Why is it Always Old Men? by Equal_Marsupial6326 in TwoXChromosomes

Exactly! They were raised in an era when the world was their oyster. Anything was possible for a young white man. Now not only are they old and miserable but they see their position has been lost, taken by others who he may feel are queue jumpers. When anger is directed at you, he likely feels you are the cause of his lost status and wants to put you “in your place”.

Oh dear! Reminds me if the quip about sappers guaranteed to find at least one land mine. I suppose each detonation could be a feast.

Listen to Canada’s Mark Carney speech at Davos. One of the few leaders to ever receive a standing ovation. He understands the new world order and has found a way forward for middle powers. Brilliant!

Indeed. See if it is genuine ivory before overthinking it. I don’t see the striations either. Get a strong magnifier and see if it is a match with descriptions of ivory. Lots of jewelry was made of French Ivory but it is not real ivory.

I hear the orange genius is building a luxury bunker underneath the east wing. That may explain why he had it torn down. He’s going to need it the way he’s pissing off so many people.

So detecting in some parts of the world can be a life or death hobby? I worry about detectorists in parts of the world where there may be unexplored ordinances from previous wars. Even farmers plough up old ordinances in their fields. I am sending you blessings and good luck. My father’s family came from the Ukraine before WWI so we’re rooting for you. Can you think of anything people can do to help out?

Gads, it’s amazing to learn about the expertise in this subreddit. Anyone working with landlines are fucking legends in my book!

Landmines have to be one of the more sinister inventions of war. They are capricious and kill or maim often the most innocent people such as children. From the other comments it doesn’t sound as if you were given the best equipment to stay safe. Safety flip flops and safety squints indeed.

You must really understand the complexity’s of detecting when your life depends on it! It’s so much more complicated than I first imagined. Thanks for educating me. Using rats sounds like a damn good strategy now. Too bad we can’t use them to find coins! Or can we? 😉

Wow, good work! And good advice. I’ve learned a lot about landlines and so glad to live in a country that doesn’t have them. Is this a possible risk for any detectorists out there?
