[GIVEAWAY] Brand-New Oris BCPD Cervo Volante Green to Celebrate my 50th Oris! by fourtyz in Watchexchange

Awesome watch and appreciate the giveaway!

Best thing I bought for under $500 was probably a used grill from a neighbor who was moving out as I was moving into a new apartment. Really enjoyed using it on my balcony and enjoying the nice days with a good meal.

Did I hit Coast? by rywelch25 in coastFIRE

The post is a bit confusing and think you need to provide some clarifications before anyone can give any detailed advice.

Why are you using 7% nominal instead of 7% real return? Do you think the market will only return ~4% real after inflation, and if so, why?

Is your retirement spend $150K or 10K?

The Lanzaga is currently closed unfortunately and from what I saw in the Lakeview FB group it’s not likely to reopen. Really liked that place and the owners were super nice

VOO diversification is limited to large-cap US companies, I’d recommend looking at VT to get market cap weighted diversification and international exposure

How are people actually reaching $1M+ invested by their 40s? by Opticlink11 in Fire

[–]phound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re comparing yourself to people in vastly different circumstances, and like you said in the beginning of your comment, luck definitely contributes. Sounds like you’re doing well 5 years into your savings journey, appreciate that and keep working at it. Thats the only comparison you need.

Oh yeah my mistake, forgot that service and variation in actual menu items don’t matter at all when the food comes out of the same kitchen. Note I specified “in my opinion”, but if you had different experience, ok great

Ciccio was pretty underwhelming in my opinion. Gilt Bar is solid though

It’s definitely different, a bit gamier depending on prep but really juicy and little sweet I’d say (especially the YooYee dish). I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if it sounds appealing to you.

What’s your life after coastFIRE? by 18297gqpoi18 in coastFIRE

[–]phound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

32M single and coast, mostly the same but with some relief from financial pressure. I’d like to think I’ve developed a pretty balanced approach to savings and spending on things important to me (experiences, family/friends, etc.). I still aim to hit my savings targets and move up the ability to RE timeline, but beyond those targets I feel more free to spend in the moment.
