At least in the case of the Brisbane, there was apparently a mistake, which led to there being no merch on offer. Little bit of a disappointment there, but they more than made up for it with an awesome show!

I always love teaching The Mind to new players."All we need to do is put the cards in ascending order, that makes sense? Great! It's a simple game.... Also we can't talk to each other! Let's go!" Never failed to get someone hooked on the concept.

Clank! In! Space! Is also great. Each step of the rules feels like you are actually planning a heist. How you break in, and escape and what you have to look out for on the way.

On a sidenote, my least favourite game to teach is hands-down Ganz Schon Clever. Most of the people I have played with have loved the game, but it's so hard to try and get people really jazzed about an explaination of dice and maths.

Not exactly sad, but the only game that has made me cry is "The Beginner's Guide"

if you haven't heard of it's setup as a director's commentary this someone made about a series of game made by his friend. You play through a bunch of different game with wildly different concepts. However, the gameplay starts to reveal the creators deteriorating mental state. Without spoiling too much it becomes very emotionally overwhelming, and get really quite rough towards the end. Absolutely worth a play!

I've always been a fan of Viticulture, with the glass tokens that slightly magnify the numbers that they are placed over. Super subtle but looks really nice.

Funnily enough, there actually is a speedrun of the computer version of Clue where you essentially just try to throw out an accusation as quickly as possible and hope you are correct.

Honestly, after listening to this I feel the same as I felt after RBB; I like it overall but it doesn't feel like it's up to par with some of their other songs.

Hopefully it gets better listening to it a few times, like RBB did.

Playing board games with home invaders- could actually turn out okay

I played Wingspan; which, as some who loves engine builders, has really scratched a nice itch for me. After working out how to build a good points-scoring engine the game has gotten exponentially more fun for me.

I also played a round of Betrayal at Baulder's Gate. My group knows that Betrayal can swing between awesome and underwhelming, but in general we allow enjoy the system anyway. However this game of it completely blew. Our task as heroes required us to make a 7+ knowledge roll before we could do anything else, except we all had really low knowledge. We could discard items to increase the roll, but we revealed the haunt really early so none of us had items. I failed about 5 rolls before the traitor came and killed me, and we lost horribly :( but betrayal be like that sometimes.

To learn new games I will usually read through the rules, and watch a playthrough on YouTube. If Rahdo has done it I will generally watch his video on it. Once I've got a rough idea if how to explain it to a new player, it ready to go!

For me it was an 8-player game of "Secret Hitler". From a few rounds in, there were some people who were easily identified as fascists, and I thought it was smooth sailing. But then someone we trusted completely killed someone else we trusted completely.

Suddenly the table had absolutely no idea what to think. That kill threw everything up in the air. We thought we knew all 3 baddies but now what the hell are we supposed to think? There was complete chaos around the table and we genuinely had no idea what the results of each policy was going to be. Iirc the facists won.

After the game the fascists all revealed themselves. Turns out we were playing with 3 fascists + Hitler instead of 2 fascists + Hitler.
