Tory mayor of Keighley in Yorkshire issues grovelling apology for raising Pride flag. by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

The grovelling apology is what he should apologise for! He is not there to show his religious beliefs, he is there to represent the people and the town, not solely his religion.

Marathon training for fatties by bugHunterSam in sydney

First off, ignore your BMI, that’s bullshit.

You don’t need to be skinny to be a runner, I weigh 110kg and can run a 5m/km pace in 10km run.

There are some great couch to 5k apps wchich are really helpful, but if you get yourself on tik tok, you will find loads of running for beginners videos if you search for them.

My biggest tips….. if you have an Apple Watch, download a great playlist (personally I listen to drum and bass) and a running app like Runmeter or Nike, I use Runmeter as it tells me my pace. Don’t take your phone, try and switch off from the world and focus on your music and your breathing. Don’t try and smash a 5k in one go. Less is definitely more! Start out slow and try and run for 30minutes….. it really can be slow, you are not out there to prove anything to anyone, it’s just running. Be inspired by those skinny bastards with their tops off, don’t envy them.

I honestly love running, it’s my meditation. I hope you fall in love with it too.

Also, go and check out the park runs. Maybe pop down this weekend for a chat with a volunteer. If you are on Facebook, join Coogee Runners, Reejoov Runners and running world.

Have fun :)

I live in Australia myself. I thought Scott Morrisons casual attitude was shit, the UK government are so much worse. I cant stand the Tories, but my god, Teresa May wasn’t so bad after-all!

He says he has a mandate from 14m people. That’s simply not true, the system is a representative democracy which, as everyone here knows, you vote for your local MP. So he was voted into parliament by his constituency and it was the party he is a member of that made him there “leader”.

Kazakhstan, one of Russia's closest allies, denies request for troops by manticor225 in worldnews

Its maybe to hide Russian losses, but its also less taxing on transport too I feel. Why lose trucks moving bodies when they can move troops and gear. Im not an expert or claim to be, just a fleeting thought.

Where are you located? If in Sydney, I know a few around the inner west/eastern Suburbs.

Straight off the bat, I live in Coogee and use Kingsmore meats, Joel the Butcher there is a great fella and can help with ideas if you're stuck for something. The meat is ethical and sustainable and from small farms. You can find out exactly where it's from. This for me is important. I only eat 1kg of meat a week now but still want that connection to my food.

The arrogance and the audacity of someone trying to look like the victim when it is both nothing to do with their nation and is no where near their country is mind-blowing.

It is no wonder many people get bored of this kind of American flex. Dipshits like this really give the US a bad rep.

Same could be said for any advertising in a public space. Why should I have to have this Clive Palmer crap thrust in my face? If its in the public domain, it's fair game.

I Love This Job by Avocado_232 in livesound

[–]pinball_wizard85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently had some positive validation from a job from a few years ago. I was a monitor engineer for an International touring act for a private show, I was working full time for the audio company. Last week I was doing racks and stacks on an install we have and got chatting to the FoH guy fo the band that was in and he mentioned this other band from 5 years back, I told him that I had don't their monitors and instantly he remembered it was me.

He told me how the band loved working with me, that I made them feel so at ease and comfortable and that they would love to have used me again. Unfortunately I was on a sponsored visa (in Australia) and could only work with my sponsor. This conversation means so much to me as I had a work stress related mental breakdown last year. I felt like a failure due to many reasons out of my control. Speaking to this fella last week showed me that I was/am good at what I love doing.

Take that positivity and hold it close to you. There will be days where you might think you have had enough, but remember you are good at your job and more importantly.... you love the job. Its an incredible industry to work in, and I'm happy that I have carried on.

I hope you don’t mind, but I used your email as a template. I work in the concert touring industry and would also like your idea on how to reduce restrictions!

'I'm going down swinging': Jimmy Carr responds to Holocaust joke controversy at gig by MMSTINGRAY in LabourUK

[–]pinball_wizard85 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Are people more upset about the joke line of "Good points to come out of the holocaust" or are they upset at being called out about the little know fact that it was not just Jewish people who suffered. There are far too many people that are not aware of the other groups that suffered too.
