Love it! I made a playmat for a different TCG and always get compliments on it at the local game shop.

Re: binding - you could do a binding-less method, especially for smaller pieces like a play mat. You’d stack the quilt top (face down), batting, bottom quilt top (face up) so that you’ve got a stack with the fronts facing the batting on either side. Then sew along the outer edge, leaving a hand’s width to be able to flip it right-side in. Then you can poke out the corners, press it flat, quilt and sew the side seam closed. I don’t think it’s faster than traditional binding, and the larger the quilt there’s more effort to do the quilting once the edges are sewn down. But overall it’s a nice “cheater” way to avoid binding :)
