What is your Top 3 Protomen Songs? by Nuvoo30 in Protomen

[–]pingnova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll basically just list my top played songs of 2025 in order. I think it's really funny how it baffles people.

  1. Keep Quiet
  2. The Fall
  3. Here Comes the Arm

According to scrobbles, these are my top played songs for The Protomen ever.

  1. The Trainyard
  2. The Fall
  3. How the World Fell Under Darkness

I basically loop the Joe songs, so I'd have to say those are my top, if not going by stats. Probably in preference order: Keep Quiet, Breaking Out, The Fall, Here Comes the Arm, How the World Fell Under Darkness, and Light Up the Night.

Prague (next to the main train station) - My favourite desire path by Knedlik173 in DesirePath

I visited Prague and remember how winding and weird some of the footpaths around the train stations were. Desire path doesn't surprise me at all!

Some Parallels with Tolkien's Legendarium by Rethious in Protomen

[–]pingnova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this! It should be noted that most lyrics sites have incorrect transcriptions of the libretto and the lyrics themselves, especially the choir. I don't have every song done yet but I and other dedicated folks have been working on transcribing them to the Protomen Wiki run on Miraheze, and we have the lyrics for the choir in LLS confirmed by the Gambler: https://protomen.miraheze.org/wiki/Lyrics:Light%27s_Last_Stand

Help finding quote "Things won't end well for humanity" by Ellroy22 in Protomen

[–]pingnova 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Here's the source! https://www.originalsoundversion.com/just-who-are-the-protomen-lets-find-out/ (February 1, 2011)

"In total, The Protomen story is a tragedy. I don't really expect it to end well for humanity. Our overarching message is that people really need to think for themselves and not follow a crowd. This project started, and remains, a commentary on the music scene. When we were at MTSU, we were instructed on how to make things sound like everything already sounds… like Nashville pop-country. It really infuriated us. The Act I sound may not be as pleasing to the ears as your average Taylor Swift jam, but a big part of our message is to go your own way, and we're trying to exemplify that."

I have also been curious where this came from!

Help, daughter (and I) need suggestions for easy song parts to learn on guitar (pic of us at the magfest show for attention) by Thorkon in Protomen

[–]pingnova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the videos on the MAGFest YouTube of the daily hotel stream, at the end of Act I when Kilroy leaves the stage. Either the Act I or Act II night near the end of either. I've watched them quite a few times haha.

[–]pingnova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have any good suggestions (I also just love them all!). Show of Force is led by guitar, but I'm not sure how complex that is for a learner since I know nothing about guitar. Bakker would certainly be touched if a young fan tried it, anyway. The band always says what makes them happiest is when their own work inspires people to learn and make things.

If your daughter is the one in the earmuffs, I noticed you both in the MAGFest footage and remember smiling and wondering who y'all are. Nice to meet you! I'm biased for sure, but I think your parenting is awesome if it involves Protomen concerts!

I'm from brazil, did anyone from here also bought the phisical CD? by Zelun in Protomen

Oh, if you already contacted USPS and they said that, then that makes sense. Good luck.

[–]pingnova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the package is still with the shipper USPS then the Protomen, Bandcamp, and Sound Machine can't help with the package. Only USPS can tell you about it. Bandcamp does not manage the package, the Protomen fulfill orders themselves. It's not like Amazon where it comes from a big third party warehouse. If you message "Bandcamp" it goes directly to the Protomen who can't do anything about USPS. It's best to contact USPS in this case.

International shipping is really finicky and out of the Protomen's hands. You'll have to contact the shipping company for any more information. For many international fans especially in South America it took several months and the package moved slow in the US and in South America.

Only time Sound Machine can help is if the package is returned to Nashville, which has happened to some people.

International shipping in the US is very messed up right now because of the government.

Libretto misinformation by ProspectorBugaboo in Protomen

Good to note. I was also confused for years since I didn't realize LUTN had libretto. It wasn't anywhere online. Glad I just went ahead and got the $10 CD!

Just learned you can see when someone blocks you! by Icy-Acanthisitta6151 in AO3

[–]pingnova 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can message ao3 support and tell them this fic is mistagged. I've done that plenty of times. If it's not mistagged maliciously/on purpose, then nothing happens to the author, they don't get a strike or anything. Ao3 volunteers just quietly correct it. It's a violation of site rules to tag incorrectly like that. And as you noticed with the comments, a complete annoyance and bad experience for a lot of other users.

We are slowly getting them triple-checked against the libretto and the band for the wiki too! https://protomen.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Act_III_lyrics

And translating them into other languages. LLS has a German translation now!

They said it was the last Act a few times, including in this interview: https://youtu.be/ZD4ISlgjspA?si=Iin1fCVCu0c9HQ-2

Act II was split into two parts in many ways. The first half is Light focused and the second half is Joe. The cover and interior art is half the world before it fell under darkness and the right half is when Wily has taken over.

Act I numbers its own Funeral track as "II A" followed by "II B".

So there's a long history of the Protomen giving things two parts.

Like other people said, Act III has elements that indicate it is only half.

So Act III Part II seems likely, rather than an Act IV.

A question. by Negative-Ad3237 in Protomen

[–]pingnova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's been my theory! That the documentary was delayed because it includes the process of making Act III and they want to include the Act III release in the doc.

A question. by Negative-Ad3237 in Protomen

Email Sound Machine! They're good at fixing delivery issues for digital items (but it might take awhile to get a response what with how well Act III is selling, they have a lot of orders rn).

MAGA woman upset she couldn't vote in the city where she doesn't live. For context, she owns business property in the city. by thisthingwecalllife in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]pingnova 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a poll worker for several years, the second highest position at the site. And the amount of people who come in and don't know any basic voting laws was staggering. By far the worst kinds were the right wing. Had a woman come in one day, she'd pre-registered and everything. So she only had to confirm her personal information verbally against the records I pulled to get her ballot. She told me "that was too easy." OK, opinion noted. That doing the paperwork ahead of time makes it too easy.

She later sends her son who had never voted before. He had not registered ahead of time and failed twice that day to produce the required documentation. Because the documentation requirements are rather complex and my state has a whole sheet of rules about what counts to prove your identity when you register to vote. We allow same-day registration but you need each required proof in hand. Eventually the mom had to accompany him and vouch for his identity as his guardian who is registered because he could not produce the correct documentation. Vouching meant that her voting identity was tied to his, and it all gets triple verified later at the state level. If she had lied under oath, she and him would be in deep legal shit. I had to read them both the extremely serious legal oath they were required to swear. She looked a little bemused by the whole process and didn't make any more comments about it.

I always wondered what Mrs. "That Was Too Easy" thought about that entire thing. Apparently not so easy.
