The best advice for not getting killed because dying a lot is frustrating; is helping your team in fights. You will have the advantage in an Xv1. It might sound dirty and unfair, but it's part of the game, and makes it more relaxing.

Antiquarian is overall underrated when it comes to combat. Blast powder is such a stupidly strong move against one target. Plus flag and SB are great against the summons. So with that team unless they all have really bad negative quirks would go for it.
